what kind of "presents" does your cat give you? |
|
woke up this morning to see our youngest cat, Poohkah staring down at a dead mouse
She picked it up, dropped it at my feet and demanded that I fix it...
She's quite the mouser, but hasn't caught on to the fact that the mouse "toy" can't be fixed

1. We live on the edge of town... |

Edited on Wed Sep-24-03 02:54 PM by Padraig18
... and our back yard is a cornfield. Any way, my kitty is also quite a mouser. On occasion, Tony and I shut the bedroom door to keep the animals out (ahem!), and last week when I woke up and went to make tea, there sat Spot with 6 mice, right in front of the bedroom door!
He loves his 'daddy'! :P

2. We live with the Great Furry Hunter |
|
This past weekend it was a baby squirrel, just barely alive, then the next day-- another baby squirrel!
Don't know which is worse-- stepping on a dead one in your bare feet or trying to catch one, running in terror behind your piano.
He also is partial to bringing in birds-- dead or flying. Mice too, but that's small potatoes.

9. She may have urinary tract infection.... |
|
get her tested. The vet will give you some special "kitty litter" (really some sort of pellet). After your cat tinkles on it, you bring it back to the vet, and they'll test it.

20. Don't you love the middle-of-the-night hacking noise? |
|
Laying in bed, trying to figure out where exactly, your cat is hacking up that hairball so you might have a chance of remembering when you get up........

5. Have 2 indoor cats. But they work hard at gift-giving... |
|
Have received the various assortment of usual toys, along with a pincushion, a small picture frame, a tube of chapstick (left on my pillow), bubble wrap, and a small piece of a sheepskin rug that resembles a miniature barrister's wig.

7. Mine are both very generous |
|
Lily used to bring me moles every morning. She was a great hunter when she was an outdoor cat. But she doesn't bring toys. She likes them but she doesn't initiate.
Pad Thai is a marvelous Siamese Retriever. He brings me everything. His favorite fetch toy are sparkley balls (rolled up small balls of foil). He'll bring them again and again and lay them at my feet. He also brings them to Lily to try to get her to play with him!!! And he puts them in food and water bowls
His other favorites are those little mice you can buy in packs, and the sticks once Lily has torn up the feather toys on them. He's apt to get me up in the morning by jumping on the bed with the stick in his mouth and proceeds to poke me in the butt with it.
Every time I see him with a stick in his mouth jump on a bed I LMFAO

8. My aging and enfeebled kitty is not much of a hunter |
|
and he's too arthritic to catch anything, regardless. Though he will 'toy' with whatever prey the young one brings home.
The younger cat, on the other hand is large (lanky, but large) and fast and slightly cross-eyed. He has brought home birds and mice and deposited them on my feet, but his most frequent gift of conquest is the pine cone, and his "Beloved Orange Fuzzy."
Worth mentioning, however, that StirF once brought me a pork chop. Still warm from the grill, too.

Perfect, the 3-year-old, likes to lick my hair. She can spend minutes and minutes licking and licking.
Buster, the year-and-a-half old, likes to jump up on my shoulder, curl around my neck and lick my face.

When I adopted kasha, she had a beanie baby teddy bear in her cage and the shelter told me I had to take it. Apparently the little girl who left kasha at the shelter also left the bear with the requirement that whoever adopted the kitten had to take the bear. Kasha knows the bear is hers and brings it to me at least twice an evening (once she brings it downstairs to me and then late at night she'll bring it into the bedroom. she makes a strange meowing noise whenever she brings it, she'll drop it at my feet and come over and give me head rubs. very very cute. My other cat knows that the bear is absolutely off limits and wont go anywhere near it.

Mickey sometimes leaves the intestines on the front mat. A couple of times he left the back end of a mouse (well I guess he would give a rat's ass but no rats in the area). Often he'll leave baby moles or full grown moles.

she was about 12 weeks old, decided to go hunting one evening
we called and called for her to come in when it was time to go to bed, but she wasn't around... we searched, but couldn't find her
the next morning, she was proudly standing on the back stoop in front on 6 large night crawlers all neatly laid out and very dead...
she soon graduated to moles, mice, birds, squirrels and yep full grown rabbits...

As my granny once said when I tried to outrun her (unsuccessfully), "You may be younger, but I am wiser and INFINITELY more clever!". Bet that's how your cat does it, too! :)

Yes, I use to have a cat!
And she was partially indoor but spent time outdoor (she was a ferral cat that had adopted me).
Once in a blue moon she'd bring home 'take-out' (a mouse, mole, bird, baby bunny). But once I swore she was bring home a fanbelt off of a car. Turns out it was a snake. Nothing like playing tug-of-war with your cat.

Actually, it's my landlady's cat. The funny thing is, I've been there for almost 9 years and there has never been a problem in my part of the house ... except on the one day when I was going in for my final PhD examination. It was the 13th of the month, and though I'm not really superstitious I had the feeling of impending dread! But I passed the thing, and when I got home, I discovered that the cat had hacked up an enormous hairball on the carpet in my room.
Normally I would have been upset (particularly since my landlady's reaction to any cat damage in the house is to just ignore it, and let someone else fix or clean it up, and this was no exception). But I was so relieved that I just burst out laughing ... this must be my store of bad luck for the day!

You must first know that I am deathly afraid of house birds. Ever since I was a little kid and saw "The Birds", forget it. No flying birds where I can't get away from them. I love them outdoors or in their little cage, but not flying around the house.
So suddenly my cat gets a hankering for birds. He brought one into the house and put it down, but the bird wasn't dead!!! Aaack! A bird flying around the house, I'm freaking out, my kids don't know whether to calm down mom or get rid of the bird and they can't figure out how to get the bird out anyway. Mass hysteria!!
The second time he did I got very mad at him and scolded him and he never did it again.
