Anybody ever buy someone a gift certificate to iTunes

and have it be processed successfully?

I sent (or so I thought) a gift certificate to iTunes to someone over the weekend and they were supposed to get it Monday for our work's Secret Santa. Still no gift certificate.

And the best part is that when I call the Apple Store and tell them about this, they gave me a URL where I was supposed to go and fill out a form, a response to which I should expect in 48 hours.

48 fucking hours? To acknowledge an error on their part?

I'm not the only one- someone else gave the same gift here to someone else and theirs never showed up either.

1. I should add, it was supposed to be emailed not snail mailed

3. My sister sent me one on my birthday

she had no problem at all sending it, it got sent right to my itunes account.

4. Account??

I don't know if this guy has an account. He's got an iPod but I don't think he's used iTunes yet, just loaded up his CD's and whatever he "acquired" online.

The order process said nothing about the person having to have an account already- just wanted their email address.

5. My email acct is on file with apple so maybe thats why it went so quickly.

He probably does have itune if he has an ipod.

6. Believe it or not I don't think he does, plus

the other guy here who's waiting for the same gift to arrive from someone else doesn't have an account either and still his gift certifiate hasn't arrived.

You'd think I'd hear a response from them though, no?

I love Apple, iTunes, and my iPod. I just really don't love shitty customer support.

9. Ok, when my sister sent mine they asked her for my email addy

and since i already had an itunes account it linked it almost directly. I got an email from them telling me to click here and redeem it. so if he doesn't have an itunes or apple account maybe you could have them change it to an actual gift card and then he can redeem it whenever he decides to download itunes.

of the Holidays and things sometimes get screwed up. But maybe it's this.
