I have a horrible cold and need to get rid of it NOW! Help! |
|
I have eaten chicken noodle soup, taken an expectorant, eaten oranges, and slept a lot.
Still sick!
Last night I had a shot of vodka and went straight to bed...didn't help.
I can't stand being sick, anymore! This is day 3! Waaaaa!
Any suggestions?

Works for me. Also eat some hot and sour soup for the sinuses.

3. Garlic..real cloves of garlic... |

I can't personally do this remedy but my chiropractic sons and their friends SWEAR by this.
They bake a whole one and smush it up and put on bread or toast. You don't have to cook it.. but seems more palatable to me.
Get well soon!

13. Before your shot of Jack Daniels..... |
|
and right after you take your garlic take a tablespoon of lemon juice with a dash of cayenne pepper in it. The lemon juice, garlic and pepper will cure what ails you. The Jack Daniels will make it all go down smoother

I've had my cold for 16 days, with no end in sight.
You're complaining about 3 days? :)

That's not a cold, that's a brain tumor! (or something) You should go to the doctor.

It slowly moved from my ears, to my nose and now to my chest. Feels just like a normal cold, only longer.

5. Here are Things That Work for Me: |
|
--Zinc (Take frequently. Exceed the recommendation by a lot.) --Echinacea (Take frequently. Two to four times the recommended amount.)
and you might try:
--Ginger: just slice up a chunk of ginger almost as big as your thumb and boil for 45 minutes. Tastes great. On the off chance you have any ginseng, put that in too -- that helps. --Garlic: Eat some fresh cloves. It's a natural antibiotic.
Echinacea is the most important. I had a horrible sinus infection once which improved after taking echinacea. I stopped taking it too soon, got worse, and only improved after starting to take it again. That convinced me of its effectiveness.

Go to a health food store - Whole Foods - that kind of place, and get some packets of this stuff.
Have at least two a day.
It works better if you're just starting to come down with something, but it can't hurt.
I have fought off a number of cold-type illnesses before they even got started with this stuff.

but you should have taken Airborne at the first sign of your cold. It's a fizzy pill that you drop into some water and then drink; take it several times a day. Most people swear by it!
I'd probably get some and try it now. It can't hurt.

10. This is all standard stuff, but... |
|
Take multivitamins and extra Vitamin C. Drink lots and lots and lots of water. Get lots and lots of sleep - but a little bit of normal exercise also, don't become an invalid. I have found that Echinacea supplements help reduce the length and severity of a cold. Echinacea Purpurea is an herb that stimulates the body's immune system. See a doctor.

12. Take 100-200mg of zinc every day. You already have the cold,,, |
|
Edited on Wed Dec-15-04 06:55 PM by augie38
taking the zinc will ease the symtoms and it won't last as long.
First sign of a cold, start popping that Zinc. I didn't believe it at first. but it sure works. I've had one cold in six years and I used to get at least two a year.

Get a bottle. Pour a shot. Light the shot on fire, blow it out, and down it quick. Repeat.
I tell you, it kills everything. It's very effective: clears your sinuses right out, warms things up and gets the gunk moving, and kills any buggies it touches. Plus, it'll knock you out.

I was down for about 3-4 days. Zicam helped reduce the overall length of the cold.

have mercy on you! It has to be the worst cold I've had in years. I could tell you about the strange alien goo that was inhabiting my sinuses but somehow I doubt I could do it justice...
Stay healthy and wash your hands often. :hi:

The second you feel a cold coming on take these and it never comes at all. In your case in will be gone within 24 hours of taking them.
