Holiday - Green Day
"Holiday"

Hear the sound of the falling rain
Coming down like an Armageddon flame (Hey!)
The shame
The ones who died without a name

Hear the dogs howling out of key
To a hymn called "Faith and Misery" (Hey!)
And bleed, the company lost the war today

I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives
On holiday

Hear the drum pounding out of time
Another protestor has crossed the line (Hey!)
To find, the money's on the other side

Can I get another Amen? (Amen!)
There's a flag wrapped around the score of men (Hey!)
A gag, A plastic bag on a monument

I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives
On holiday

"The representative from California has the floor"

Sieg Heil to the president gasman
Bombs away is your punishment
Pulverize the Eiffel towers
Who criticize your government
Bang bang goes the broken glass and
Kill all the fags that don't agree
Trials by fire, setting fire
Is not a way that's meant for me
Just cause, just cause, because we're outlaws yeah!

I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives
I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives

This is our lives on holiday
============

LeftCoast here...just listening to a little Green Day tonight. I've been pretty depressed lately about the election and the general state of affairs in the country. For some reason, having Green Day sing what I feel makes it a little better.

If you haven't heard Green Day's latest album you really should give it a chance.

For those of you who've listened to it, have you been able to pick a favorite song? I still can't make up my mind.

2. I feel like I have a few 'favorite' songs
JoS is one of them. American Idiot is another. It's SO good but also fairly different compared to a lot of the other songs...

It's so great to have an album that I can listen to over and over again. Last one was Smashing Pumpkins sometime in the last century. :)

3. Celebrate

MADONNA LYRICS

"Holiday"

Holiday Celebrate
Holiday Celebrate

If we took a holiday
Took some time to celebrate
Just one day out of life
It would be, it would be so nice

Everybody spread the word
We're gonna have a celebration
All across the world
In every nation
It's time for the good times
Forget about the bad times, oh yeah
One day to come together
To release the pressure
We need a holiday

You can turn this world around
And bring back all of those happy days
Put your troubles down
It's time to celebrate
Let love shine
And we will find
A way to come together
And make things better
We need a holiday

Holiday Celebrate
Holiday Celebrate

Holiday Celebrate
Holiday Celebrate

Holiday, Celebration
Come together in every nation.

4. Letterbomb
Nobody likes you..
Everyone left you..
They're all out without you..
Having fun..

Where have all the bastards gone?
The underbelly's accidental high
The dummy failed the crash test
Collecting unemployment checks
You're fucking only along for the ride

Where have all the riots gone?
As your city's model gets pulverized
What's in love is now in debt
On your birth certificate
So strike the fucking match to light this fuse

The television's an obstructionist
And you don't even know that you exist
Stand still wish to die
You better run for your fucking life

It's not over 'till your underground
It's not hope before it's too late
This cities burnin'
It's not my burden
It's not hope before it's too late

There's nothing left to analyze

Where will all the martyrs go when the virus cures itself?
And where will we all go when it's too late?

And don't look back

You're not the Jesus of Suburbia
St. Jimmy is a figment of
Your father's raise and your mother's love
That's made the idiot America

It's not over 'till your underground
It's not hope before it's too late
This cities burnin'
It's not my burden
It's not hope before it's too late

She said I can't take this place
I'm leaving it behind

Well she said I can't take this town
I'm leaving you tonight

6. Strangely enough, that song came on just as I started to read your post.
What are the odds?*

*Probably something like 1 in 9 since I have the album on repeat. hehe

7. It has been hard to pick a favorite.
I'm stuck between American Idiot, Holiday, and Boulevard of Broken Dreams. I find it hard to find any song on the album that I really don't like, but those are my 3 favorites. Extraordinary Girl comes in a close 4th.

8. I remember the first time I heard American Idiot
I hadn't heard anything about the album and was like "WHAT is THAT!?" I knew I had to get me some of that album. :)

I was really happy that the rest of the tracks are just as good.
