Anyone interested in a HORROR Group?
We've got groups for fantasy and science-fiction. Horror seems like a logical choice to add to fill in the genre gap.

5. COOL! That's one of my faves. I need to get it on DVD too.
Does that mean you're in for the group, though?

(I just re-watched The Legend of Hell House. Man, that film was scary even today and it had little to no special effects.)

22. I am a fan of GOOD horror movies
I like the pyschological ones much better - not the blood and gore. You must listen to the commentary - they have the director and all the major players talking. He mentions where that actual house is - looks a bit different now and is a four-star hotel (that movie was filmed in England - Wise made the setting in rural New England in America because he felt like haunted houses are too common in England). Just Google "Ettington Park Hotel".

Also, here's a detailed site from a rabid fan that I found fascinating: http://www.ficsx22.com/haunting/haunting_reviews.html

11. I'd image both
Edited on Thu Dec-16-04 07:34 AM by Khephra
It would give the group more traffic if we did both. Also TV horror too. Actually, horror in all its forms. Some music might qualify as well. I could see making a group statement that would be broad enough that it would also allow horror themed musicians like Ozzy and Coopter...unless everyone else thought that would be stretching it too far.

14. Until we get enough people....here's some horror news
Pinhead Comes To Television

Producers are adapting Clive Barker's "Hellraiser" film series into an hourlong TV show according to Sci-Fi Wire. Larry Kuppin, whose New World Entertainment hatched the first two Hellraiser films, will executive produce with Eric Gardner.

In the series, a tabloid journalist stumbles onto a plot between the ghoulish Pinhead and a software magnate that would have dire consequences for mankind.

Woo Hoo!

I'll start working on a mission statement for the group tomorrow and post it here in the Lounge late Friday. Things are a little hectic over here right now, so I'll have to wait until things calm down a bit to get to work on it.

Keep your eyes open for the next post sometime after 4PM ET tomorrow!

Thanks everyone! Now go be goth or something tonight. ;-)

30. The "Artsy Goth" Horror Group Mission Statement
Edited on Fri Dec-17-04 04:43 PM by Khephra
The purpose of the Horror Group is to provide a safe-haven for all those lovers of the dark creatures of the night, creaking doors, spiderwebs and things that go bump in the night. Here we can talk about gore without fear of offending and share dark nightmares for the delight of others who have a taste in matters that are Dark.

Film, TV, theater, literature, comics, music....this is the place to discuss any art form that thrives in the night of the human soul.

Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.

This is not an Exit.

(Whatdaya think? Too Much, my Children of the Night?)

We've got the ten people, we just need you all (or at least some of you) to check back in with the mission statement above.

Suggestions and other examples of a Mission Statement welcomed!

35. it might be nice if you included a short description of subgenres
though not at all necessary...

like :

This group will open discussion on the writers, actors, and directors of classic horror in the Universal/Hammer Studio models, Kaiju-Eiga, Asian New Wave, Italian horror and Giallo, plus the current resurgence in Independent direct to DVD horror.

I think the mission statement as written is perfectly fine, and I am pretty sure that Admin won't have a problem with it.

Hey, did you ever check out Horrorview?
