Gillette plans to release battery powered razor for women called Vibrance
Vibrance...hmmmm...that's quite an appropriate name for something battery-powered and for women.

Gillette hopes to power shaver sales to women with Vibrance

Gillette (G) will announce Thursday its strategy to go after a bigger cut of the women's shaving market this spring, including two new products in its successful Venus line and - in an unusual move in personal care products - equality with similar men's products in price.

The company will roll out a battery-powered Venus Vibrance shaver, similar to its men's M3Power, that sends little vibrations to the skin to raise the hair for a closer shave. It also will add Venus disposables.

<...>

Gillette achieved price parity by setting a lower price point for the Venus than the M3Power, launched last spring with a suggested retail price of $14.99, then cutting the price of the men's razor (effective next month). The price cut was achieved in part by packaging both models as a razor, a carrying case and one refill, dropping one extra refill from the M3Power package.

"Our testing indicated that there is an upside potential to penetrate* more razors at a slightly reduced price," Hoffman says.

*Ed. Note: Why the fuck did he choose that word? There are bound to be other words that would fit better. Was he snickering when he said it?

On second thought, that was brilliantly played.

1. Sounds pretty dirty to me! Sort of like my cookie package that states:
"Enlarged to show detail"

I doubt this razor is gonna sell.

5. No major product name is EVER chosen by accident anymore.
If Gillette decided to call this product "Vibrance", you can bet their market researchers told them to.

7. Oh, and to answer your question, Fenris
It was better than saying "We're gonna have this horizontal market licked" ;-)

8. This makes me think of the Amazon customer reviews for the...
...Harry Potter battery powered vibrating broomstick:

When my 12 year old daughter asked for this for her birthday, I kind of wondered if she was too old for it, but she seems to LOVE it. Her friends love it too! They play for hours in her bedroom with this great toy. They really seem to like the special effects it offers (the sound effects and vibrating). My oldest daughter (17) really likes it too! I reccomend this for all children.
====================

My 12 year old daughter is a big Harry Potter fan, and loved the part with the Nimbus 2000, so I decided to buy her this toy. I was afraid she would think it was too babyish, but she LOVES this toy. Even my daughter's friends enjoy playing with this fun toy. I was surprised at how long they can just sit in her room and play with this magic broomstick! A great buy for any Harry Potter fan! :)
====================

This toy was #1 on my daughter's Christmas list. So what the heck, although it has no educational value I figured it would be good for imaginative play. It wasn't until after she opened her gift and started playing with it that I realized that the toy may offer a more than sensational experience. The broomstick has cute sound effects and ***VIBRATES*** when they put it between their legs to fly. Come on---what were the creators of this toy thinking? She'll keep playing with the Nimbus 2000, but with the batteries removed.

12. They're also adding disposables......a disposable Venus.
Maybe King Missile will be brought in to do the music for the commercial.
