Need help with Trojan Horse virus
From time to time I get this messsage in a pop-up box.

Virus
Trojan horse Keyhost.A

is found in file

C:\System Volume
Information\_restore{08EDBA23-6B59-425B-A13CE0333693}\RP300\A0044425.exe

To remove this virus, please run AVG for Windows

When I run the virus scan, it tells me no virus was found.
I'm running Windows XP & the most current version of AVG.
I searched for a "C:\ System Volume Information\_restore" file and could find none.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

1. Just off the top of my head
I would say that is a registry entry left over from cleaning that virus when you did have it. If you know a geek, invite him or her over. They can probably use regedit to get that entry out for you.

2. Its spyware.
Suggestions are available from http://forums.techguy.org/archive/index.php/t-286774.html

They recommend running Adaware, Spybot and Hijack This to remove all spyware from your computer (all free programs).

3. Easy fix.
You have System Restore turned on.
This means that before you deleted the actual virus it got backed up.
AVG still recognizes it in the system restore file.
Simply turn off your System Restore and reboot the computer.
Then turn System Restore back on.

Alt+click My Computer(right click+Properties) and go to the System Restore tab.
Click the check box to turn it off and click ok, then reboot.
Uncheck the tab to restore the service.
I adjust the sliders for each hard drive on my machine to get it down to around 1GB... Windows allocates way too much space for System Restore.

Good luck.
