follow up to yesterday's HR rant -- RANT!
see http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=105&topic_id=2222245&mesg_id=2222245

Today I got this email from HR:

I received your drs. note, and we are able to accommodate you in the building garage, but as a daily parker. Since we are unable to take out deductions on the next paycheck, you will need to pay Sam daily for the days you use the garage. After your doctors appointment next week, we will revisit the situation, and if parking closer is still required, in January we will be able to take payroll deductions. Let me know if you have any questions.

They'll accomodate me, but I have to pay.

Twelve dollars fifty cents per day.

Three blocks away, I pay $190 per month for a parking place.

GOD, I hate D.C. sometimes!!

1. Ask 'em if they'd rather you just didn't show up
And they can pay you sick time. I thought they were required to make arrangements for disabled people - seems you would qualify as disabled.

I hate having to deal with beaurocracy - it only makes me crazier than I already am. :silly:

2. I plan to ask my orthopedist for some kind of proof of disability
and use it to get reimbursed. This is ridiculous.

I have to make a trip to the DMV soon. Maybe I'll get a temporary disability tag, as many suggested yesterday.

3. What asses!
I read your post yesterday.

They seem like insurance companies: will protest and delay and hem and haw until forced to 'pay'. God forbid if someone else, in perfect health, would have to walk a little ways to accomodate someone who needs help. Merry Christmas and feel the love.

I agree that you should try to get a temp disabled permit for your car.

And sorry for repeating myself, but what asses.

Oh yeah, and keep your receipts.

5. Damn that sucks!
I echo a previous post and suggest that you talk to your orthopedist and see if he will authorize a temporary disabled card so you can park in the H/C parking.
