1. Braves choke against Cubs |
|
If the Cubs get into the NLCS every Chicagoan and American will be watching that game(even White Sox fans). That will put presure on the Braves and they'll choke under pressure like always. Then they'll lose:evilgrin:

15. Yeah, those Braves sure choke under pressure.. |
|
..to the tune of endless division titles. I sure wish the teams I like choked as much as they did. Once again, a perfect example of AM sports talk inanity infecting this board.

16. Winning a division Title is easy... |
|
because nobody really starts watching until after you win the division title. Then you go into the playoffs and that's when the pressure is applied. When the Braves make it to the NLCS they struggle against teams they should be able to slam. When they get into the World Series they get slammed by teams they should be slamming. Look the Braves only have one World Series win because no one was watching. When it gets into October Greg Maddux starts throwing like an class A rookie in Hodunk that's throwing batting practice. When it gets into October the Braves hitters look like they never seen a Major League pitching before. When it gets into October the Braves prove that the old adage "pitching wins championship's" is bullshit because they have the best pitching every year they go to the World Series and lose. When it gets into October the Braves go from champs to chumps. The National League should ban them from the World Series and put a team in that tries to win when they get there.

2. I don't know what I'll do if the Twins face the BoSox in the ALCS. |
|
Edited on Wed Sep-24-03 07:36 PM by northwest
It's very possible. I root for both teams, though I've been leaning more towards the BoSox recently. I guess I'll cheer for the offense.:-)

3. Yeah I understand your pain - I like the Sox |
|
I'm an admirer of the Sox too. But I grew up in Minnesota routing for the Twins since 1969. My dad took me to Bert Blyleven's first game, and I caught a foul ball off the bat of Ted Uhlander (only die-hard Twins fans would remember him). So, I can't route for the Sox against the Twins, but if they do beat them, I'll definitely be cheerin for the Sox in the series !!!

4. The Sox are the Minnesota Vikings of baseball. |
|
That's the main reason I root for them. The "choke" factor. It's empathy. I feel their pain, and also their joy. As a huge Vikings fan, I can relate 100 percent to what Sox fans go through. And I ended up rooting for them.

5. Yeah I hadn't thought of that |
|
I was never sure what drew me to the Sox, but I think you may be on to something. I've been a diehard Vikings fan as long as I have been a Twins fan. Man, I almost kicked the TV when they lost to Oakland in '77. They really do find a new way to choke every year, but I keep hopin.

What the Sox do in the series reminds me of the Bills.

I agree. I have been a Twins fan for years (since before they were any good). I remember the 87 and 91 Series very well. I am also a Braves fan so I didn't know who to root for in 91 but since I likes the Twins first, I rooted for them and I will again, if it comes down to that. Most important, I hope anyone beats the Yankees. I HATE them! LOL

8. Ummmm I thought the playoff rounds were both 5 game series |
|
I'm rooting for the Twins (of course), but if it takes us 7 games to beat the Yankees, we're hosed. I say Twins in 5 in both rounds. And won't it be fun to see them beat Atlanta again?

12. Prior, Wood, Zambrano. And you think Braves sweep? |
|
Not a chance of a sweep. I'm not gonna get over excited and claim a series victory right away, but the Cubs have to get a win with one of those starts.

The Twins won't win their first series. They just don't have a good enough all-around team. Everything else is fairly reasonable.
