The voice of New York Baseball is retiring |
|
The greatest announcer in New York sports HISTORY is calling it quits at the end of the season. Bob Murphy has been the voice of the New York Mets for 42 years, he will be missed. His voice is as sweet as Fred Lynn's swing, Murph is the consumate professional.
"Liiiiiine driiiiive to left field, baaase hit for Darryl Strawberry"
"Oh what a play, Willie Montaaaaaaaanyez!
"Hiiiiiiigh fly ball, deeeeeep to left field, waaaay back......GONE! A home run for Mike Piazza/Willie Mays/Pete Rose/Ron Santo/Ernie Banks/Richie Allen/Willie Stargell/Willie McCovey/Stan Musial
he's called them all!

2. Each time one of these guys retires, they take a bit of the game with them |
|
Sorry to hear that Murph is hanging it up. But 42 years is a *good* run.
