9. Diz was not only a genius of a player
but he helped advance the art form by working with and encouraging young players. I was fortunate to meet him at the 83 North Sea Jazz Festival, and he was just an extroardinary human being to all of us youngsters. He signed autographs, and hung with us for a little bit. We were hoping he could come to our rehearsal but he had to get ready for his performance.

I will never forget the day...
