Orange County, CA DUers: How realistic is the "O.C."'s depiction? |
|
I am a native Californian, but I am from the Bay Area and have spent relatively little time in Orange County.
How realistic is the TV show the "O.C"'s depiction of life in Orange County, particulary Newport Beach? Obviously the plot lines are rather hyperbolic, but I'm interested in hearing your views on how realistic you think the show depicts cultural life in that part of California.

I like Orange County. Some nice people live there.

I am in LA county, but I know enough about Orange County. That lifestyle exists in Newport Beach, for sure, and I'm glad they have such a Jewish presence on that show because that is certainly accurate, but Orange County also has a lot of gang activity and white trash (for lack of a better term) areas, such as Fullerton, which are NOTHING like anything you will ever see on that show.
They seem to do OK with the little slice of the community they have decided to portray.
