I don't mind the dog, really. It protects the neighborhood but it really drives me crazy. And I'm not the type to go over and discuss it with my neighbors. Do you all think something is wrong with the dog. It looks healthy to me and it's beautiful dog.

I think it's a Siberian Husky:

1. I have a similar situation
People behind me have this really beautiful black Lab, but they leave him tied up constantly and he's like a mad beast now. He barks and howls during the day, at night, just basically whenever he's here (I think he might belong to the resident's boyfriend, because the dog is not always here).

Anyway, like I said, he's crazy-acting and scaring the neighborhood kids, my gardener and me. I finally called animal control last night when I was at my wits' end after hearing him howl for about four straight hours. I think he's being neglected, and it pisses me off. They said they're going to send someone by to see what the situation is.

Would you be comfortable leaving your neighbors a note, even an anonymous one? I am, frankly, kind of freaked out by my neighbors, as they tend to have loud, drunken fights and I live alone.

3. The neighbors just keep him in the back yard. I don't think he's tied up.
He only growls when no one is around. It was just a few minutes ago, that's what prompted me to start this thread. It doesn't bother me that much because I am used to it, he's been howling for so long. I do notice he does it mostly at night. Maybe he howls at the moon.:-)

2. Siberian Huskies usually don't make too much noise
They'll howl at friends, and bark at each other, sometimes when another dog is near that they want to meet, but that's about it. Most of them won't even howl at sirens!! The only way I've found that they protect ANYthing is to dig a moat around it (they LOVE to dig...see my little guy here)

If you're outside much, he may just want to meet you!!
