5. We're not sure of her age because we took her as a stray about
5 years ago. We think she's around 6.

Yup, we keep fresh water bowls out for her. Besides her normal bowl of water where she eats, we keep fresh water for her in a bowl on top of the guest bathroom sink and a bowl on the floor by the bathtub.

20. Here's a picture
of the large one. You can get a smaller one that's less expensive, but this was the best picture I could find.

It's called the fish tank:) Nifty idea though.

14. Not yet but we're thinking about it
Another thing our cat loves is one of those things that's got bristles on it that you stick it on a door casing about a foot up from the floor. She loves to rub her face into it all the time. My wife got it for her.

4. I too have created monsters. Two to be exact!
Every time I go to the bathroom I am followed by two of the four who own me and I have to refill the water bowl for one to drink from and turn in the spigot for the other to drink from, they take turns at each. It is a routine. If they are not finished I have to leave the water running, and/or leave the bowl in the bathroom and must remember to return to turn it off or my water bill will be horrid! and retrieve the bowl for the other cats.

But of course they do not pay the water bill, so why should they care???

8. Mine prefers to drink out
of the toilet stool. Her water dish just sets there full and unused.

10. It never seems to be fresh enough
or cold enough. Besides, my kitty seems to think that she is just a special "people."

11. I know that game! And even if you change the water 5 times a day,
mine rarely drink from the water bowl next to the food.

9. a lot of times when they do this, they consider the water from the
tap is "fresher" than in the bowl. I have noticed that one of my 4 cats will drink out of a water bowl if he sees me putting ice cubes in it for him. He is very particular how he drinks his water as he is in Chronic Renal Failure (CRF). He is ALWAYS thirsty from this condition. When they have it they like to drink from some unusual places and they want it fresh. I have cups of water for this one cat around the house and I notice he really drinks more if he sees me changing the water and/or putting in new ice cubes. He likes to drink from the kitchen tap too...but only if it is a slow drip.

15. Must be they can sense the oxygen level in the fresh water
Melting ice cubes releases oxygen, too, so maybe that's why your cat likes that.

He also seems to like the water really cold. If "stale" water reaches
room temperature, but new (good/ fresh) water is cold, then ice cube water must be good water??? I know other people from a CRF discussion board and their cats likes the ice cube cold water bit too. Maybe it is the oxygen too? I give up

13. My old dog Sirius does the same thing!
Edited on Fri Dec-17-04 09:29 PM by DemoTex
He gets his forelegs up on the side of the tub and waits for one of us to turn on the water. Then he laps like a fool.

18. Wow! That's a brave cat. My cat Gunder
was terrified of the tub. Absolutely terrified. He didn't want to get wet, and he'd cling like suction cups to anyone holding him who got near the bathtub.

I miss that cat.

22. What an adorable kitty! LOL!
Have you thought of getting her a fountain? Some cats prefer drinking from them and they are much more likely to drink from running water. I got one for my cat, but just love this photo. Thanks for sharing it!:hi:
