Is there a future in Hollywood?
Not as a celebrity. One needs to be seriously mentally ill to be a star.

I have a hankerin' to be a writer. Preferably part of a comedy writing team.

What does it take?

1. Persistence...
You have to be willing to starve. But that hunger will translate into positive energy.

4. What difference does it make if your happy doing what 'ya love?
That's 99% of the whole battle. Dedication is true creativeness, exactly what human beings truly are, but we live in a competitive society that only develops the ego. That's why our mental institutions are maxed out and we have a crazy society.

5. My god, there is nothing better than Hollywood.
If you feel that way, there is indeed a future for you.

If you're passionate about movies or television and writing, it doesn't matter about the general future, YOUR future is there.

6. Go for it.

A friend of mine who got me my start as a writer a bunch of years back moved to L.A. a couple of years ago and is doing GREAT. The various culture industries out there -- films, music, TV, adult, and the magazine publishing industry that reports on and caters to those sectors -- generate SO MUCH MONEY it's apparently hard NOT to get a little of it if you can insinuate yourself where you need to be.

Said friend has been badgering me to come out there even though I no longer write professionally, and I'm really, really tempted. Do you know anyone who's out there already doing what you want to do, or is friends with some suchlike person?

On edit: I recently saw a Futurama rerun that had a character called a hypnotoad. Is it a safe bet that that's where your handle comes from?

7. Oooh, the adult industry!
:9

J/K

Yep, that's where HypnoToad came from. I saw the first episode with that oddball stock character and decided, "Yup. That's for me." Because he's an oddball and a stock character.

Oxymornic? Youbetcha. :7
