Do you think the following bumper sticker would be appropriate?
REMEMBER 9-11 ALWAYS
but stop the killing

I keep hearing that goddam Mighty Worleytzer number "Have You Forgotten?" and finally realized that they've demeaned the memory of 9-11 sufficiently that the horror is at long last beginning to dissipate. Since Bush Jr's version of "Stay the course" is going to be "The job isn't over; we must be allowed to continue, blah blah blah," it occurs to me that the above slogan might be a successful counter-move, or counter-meme if you will. What do folks think?

1. I like it
everytime I hear "Have you forgotten" I remember "Aftermath" by Siegfried Sassoon about the post WW1 years.

Aftermath
Sigfried Sassoon

Have you forgotten yet?...
For the world's events have rumbled on since those gagged days,
Like traffic checked while at the crossing of city-ways:
And the haunted gap in your mind has filled with thoughts that flow
Like clouds in the lit heaven of life; and you're a man reprieved to go,
Taking your peaceful share of Time, with joy to spare.
But the past is just the same--and War's a bloody game...
Have you forgotten yet?...
Look down, and swear by the slain of the War that you'll never forget.

Do you remember the dark months you held the sector at Mametz--
The nights you watched and wired and dug and piled sandbags on parapets?
Do you remember the rats; and the stench
Of corpses rotting in front of the front-line trench--
And dawn coming, dirty-white, and chill with a hopeless rain?
Do you ever stop and ask, 'Is it all going to happen again?'

Do you remember that hour of din before the attack--
And the anger, the blind compassion that seized and shook you then
As you peered at the doomed and haggard faces of your men?
Do you remember the stretcher-cases lurching back
With dying eyes and lolling heads--those ashen-grey
Masks of the lads who once were keen and kind and gay?

Have you forgotten yet?...
Look up, and swear by the green of the spring that you'll never forget.

5. Let's find a recording, and deluge ClearChannel stations with requests
for it. By the way, I hadn't known that Worley recorded for DreamWorks Nashville. Thank you Mr Katzenberg!

How dare you consider what we're doing in EYE-ROCK 'killing'. We're freeing those people. Some of them, including some of ours, are being freed to be with their creators but they are free nevertheless.

I like the idea of the bumper sticker.

Edited on Thu Sep-25-03 09:42 AM by Smirky McChimpster
i am sick of flags and sick of references to 9/11.

I came up with this one:

"Vote for the Jack-ass, not the Dumb-ass in 2004" kick

What do you think of that?

4. How about...
...

"No More Whistle-Ass in 2004"

or

"Whistle-Ass-Free since 2004"

6. How about...
"United We Survive" with the UN logo

Or:

I didn't vote for him!
I'm not gonna vote for him!
Fuck him!
