NEVER go into GD: Politics, people.
Seriously.

I was having an alright time, totally oblivious to the garbage that the right wing is shoving down America's throat (I don't watch news anymore, either).

Then I went into GD: Politics, and that led me to turn on C-SPAN (DON'T!!!).

I CAN NOT BELIEVE WHAT IS GOING ON OUT THERE.

Get OUT, people, while you still can. The country is going to absolute shit. In fact, it's accelerating. The media isn't even subtle about the whoring anymore, and the people are TAKING to it.

Idiots everywhere.

Get out, get out, get out.

1. Aw come on,
how is it that you're not enjoying our rocket sled ride into oblivion?

Just let go of the handrail, stick your arms up in the air and yell: "Yaahooo!" (or maybe: "Yahoos!").

Oh yeah... and spend, spend, spend.

Yeeehaw! Crash and burn, baby! Crash and f'ing burn!

2. I've been cut off from American TV since May . . .
Except for "CNN International."

I'm not sure whether it's a blessing or a curse -- but I think I've got your opinion.

Watching from overseas is like being witness to a slow-motion train wreck from a mile away. You know there's death and destruction, but it seems remote, almost toylike.

I think I'll stay out of the country as long as possible.

3. Bleh, I prefer watching the BBC or the local news coverage
I don't know how good your Romanian is however. My dutch is just good enough to get the gist of it. Sure, CNN int'l isn't nearly as bad as domestic coverage, but I still steer clear of it whenever I can.

5. My Romanian is terrible . . .
No time to study, working 60-70 hour weeks. Luckily I'm in a University town, and most of the people I deal with speak passable English.

My wife is studying for real and my kids go to a local school and have no choice but to pick up the language. They now tell jokes I can't understand and snigger at "silly daddy" when I ask them what they're laughing at.
