Anyone not else not ready for Christmas? |
|
I really haven't begun yet. I haven't been hit with the Yuletide bug. I may need to act before the spirit bites.

1. I have been having a hard time with Christmas as an adult |
|
We don't get regular visitors and can't really do much that we'd like to our duplex so it seems sort of pointless to decorate for Christmas. My family lives a long distance away and I have never gotten them presents on the time nor really know what to give them. We never get Christmas cards early enough to actually send them to anyone. My husband is hard to shop for because he always buys any moderately priced item that he wants and has always been given everything he asks for Christmas by his parents. This year, I haven't bought any Christmas gifts yet nor do I know what to buy and I have a couple of people who I am debating whether or not to buy for. I don't know if I even have money in our bank account. It is my 4th Christmas as an independent adult and can't my act together.

2. Depends on your definition of "ready" |
|
We're invading my folks in Fort Lauderdale. Two weeks of vegging, quality time with the family, and general mooching. No stress, no shopping, no christmas music...I'm READY!!! :D

I have a Mom who loves to have the big Christmas Eve dinner (30 this year) and a mother-in-law that has to have a huge breakfast on Christmas morning. Unfortuanely, both of them are getting up there, so not only do my husband and I have to do all the baking, meal prep and decorating -- we have had to scrub down both houses and our own while trying to keep Christmas traditions with our two kids (for some reason I am having a "kiddie" party on the 23rd. Plus work has been real busy. And on top of all that this year has been so bad we swore we would have a New's Eve party and we are trying to plan that and then the week after that we are havinga party for my son's 7th! I do have almost everything wrapped and cards are out -- but the cleaning, decorating, baking and cooking never seem to end!
I think I will sleep thru the rest of January. Thanks for the venting opportunity!!

4. I'm Doing the Zen thing this season. |
|
As some wonder where all the shoppers are, we shoppers sit home with no $$$ for trees or gifts or baking supplies.
One of the household's employed has been laid off due to poor sales and didn't get a check this week. We'll wait for another paycheck ( maybe Wednesday?) and try to cram it in. I'll be baking cookies for gifts this Christmas. I have to do it all - trees, gifts, etc with maybe $200. My kids won't get big gifts, but we'll enjoy each other's company.
And I have heat and my kids and animals have food, so I'm just cleaning stuff and decorating what I can and listening to Christmas tunes in the car and hoping for true peace.
Decorate for yourself. Put a little cheerful peace in your corner.
BTW. It's snowing outside. :)
