6. Yes, I keep telling myself that. And then, guess what? It does!
I know there are so many less fortunate than I, but lately I've been getting hit with some heavy blows. I'm starting to have a hard time fending them off.

1.Had to put my doggie Sonic to sleep a couple of weeks ago, after dealing with his illness for a while.

2.Husband has been acting weird, now says we need to discuss separating after the holidays. We've been in counseling but "it's just not working for him". He will not be coming to my parent's for Christmas, he says he will feel too uncomfortable. The day before Thanksgiving he announced he decided to see his family, so I guess I should be grateful he didn't wait until the day before Christmas to make his announcement this time.

3.Buying gifts for my family has always been my favorite part about Christmas. I always look for something unique or funny or special. My nieces and nephews love opening my gifts. My husband forbade me from buying any gifts for my family this year(says we can not afford it due to the vet bills) so I of course explained to my family the situation and they understand. They sent us gifts and it made my husband mad.

Sorry if I sound like a whiner. I just feel so blue.

12. I was going to say...
"well at least you're good at predicting things" but then I read the rest of the message...I hope everything turns out ok! Cherish what you have, because it still seems like you have a wonderful family. Since you really like giving them things that are special, maybe you could make something for them? Do you have any funny old photos? Maybe your nieces and nephews (if they are younger) would like a nameplate for their door with cutouts from magazines--or a kit to do something like that.

14. good idea!
and it goes along with SmokingJacket's idea of doing a handicraft.

My only worry is going through old pictures may turn on the waterworks. But I will give it a try.

2. Have you seen the bunnies?
The "It's a Wonderful Life done in 30 seconds by animated bunnies" bunnies? That was cute.

Feeling kind of down meself, so I've been eating a bit of chocolate too.

7. Where can I see the bunnies. I could use some cuteness.
"It's a Wonderful Life" was always one of my favorites. I remember when it used to come on every channel, several times during the holidays. (Before NBC bought the rights) I would check the TV guide and plan out all the times I would watch it and keep track of the numbers from year to year. Sometimes it would be on 2 channels at once and I would flip back and forth.

Hey, that memory cheered me up. Thanks!

5. Remember the old saying.....
They said "Cheer up, things could get worse." So, I cheered up, and sure enough....things got worse!

9. Take up a handicraft.
Seriously. It doesn't "cheer me up" exactly -- but I've found that making something with my hands is incredibly soothing and grounding.

I (re)took up knitting right before the election -- in fact, during the debates. I was so nervous listening I had to do something with my hands. The color and feel of the wool and the smooth wooden needles just made me feel better.

If knitting ain't your thing, I bet painting, woodwork, even cooking and baking would help.

I'm very prone to depression, but exercise, enough sleep, chocolate, reading good books, DU, and knitting have kept me off drugs.
