1. My policy is the following. |
If you don't know a person well enough to know which holidays he/she observes, then you don't know them well enough to sincerely wish them a happy (Fill in the blank)

7. Is it "feets" of strenght, or "feats"? |
On Seinfeld it was oral/aural, so you couldn't tell. Could they have really meant kick-boxing, a la that Belgian guy whose name esacpes me right now?

14. My pastor's family had a similar Slovak-Lutheran tradition |
His father was a pastor and one of the customs carried over by his grandfather was that before going to church on Christmas Eve members of the family had to confess to each-other how they had wronged each other over the previous year and they would forgive one another. It was kind of like a reverse "airing of grievances"

none of that "I'm sorry that you were such an idiot that I had to kick your ass" stuff, just the "I have failed to be as good a brother/son/father as I should have been, in particular I regret having done (insert regretted action here)"

many years according to this weekend's New York Times. http://www.nytimes.com/2004/12/19/fashion/19FEST.htmlIt has taken on a life of its own since it was on Seinfeld.
