I love all of U DUers. Goodbye.

Yesterday I saw a doctor about a problem I already recognized (this is not the first time for me). Loss of sleep, weight gain, fatigue, total disregard for work or life or ANYTHING, total inability to focus or to remember anything for even five minutes--there are many syndromes that can cause all these symptoms, but obviously only one diagnosis looms large.

I haven't gotten to the point of suicidal ideation (as so many here--a distressing number, actually--have), but I don't want to get there either. And so I must go.

I can't tell you how much these forums have meant to me over the last few years. I first came here just after the election theft of 2000. I was just so horrified about what had happened, and it was so good to see that I was not the only one that felt the way I did, and to see that there were thousands of others who saw what was so obviously going on, and who were just as aghast by it all as I was. I don't think psychologists today really know (or admit) what a damaging thing it was for so many Americans to see our beautiful country stolen by crooks the way it was, but maybe twenty years or so from now they'll talk about it. Maybe someday.

I know I'm not the only person here who is feeling the way I do. The last couple of weeks, I've seen more defeatist and depressed posts than I EVER have, including those from several people who are seriously considering ending it all. To those people who ARE considering suicide, I only offer this: before you do anything, please, please, PLEASE see a medical professional, or at least call a crisis hotline. Things may be bad, but you have to consider the possibility that you may just be incapable of seeing them any other way. There is ALWAYS hope. Hope NEVER goes away. And the ONLY bridge between the things we hope to be and the things that will be is living another day.

I have a really strong feeling that something is coming to a head in the American consciousness. There is a serious sea change about to take place. Everything in the universe is cyclic. NOTHING lasts forever. The only thing we can ever count on is that "this, too, shall pass". The only way we Americans could ever truly appreciate this great nation of ours (or this planet) is if it were somehow taken away. And now I think that all but the most clueless people are starting to miss what they had.

I want you to know how much you all have meant to me. More than three hours a day, every day, I spent on these boards, for at least the last two years. You all have such wit and knowledge and caring, such enormous energy, creativity, and capability--more than you think you do. I wish I lived in a city with every one of you, because that to me would be a paradise. But as much as I have loved coming here and reading everything that you have to say, I think I need to channel my attention and energy elsewhere. There's an election to win, and a whole lot of people who could use my help, even if it's just to mow a lawn or change a tire.

Please be nice to each other. Don't fight over each other's candidates, and if someone tries to suck you into doing that, don't let them. All you have is each other, but fortunately that's all you need.
