i'm going to my sister's house for jesus' birthday party, and she asked me to bring food - appetizers/munchies. no meaL being served, just pickings for everyone.
my briLLiant idea: mini hamburgers. just Like white castLe, but tasty. i'LL cook tiny burgers, and put them on dinner roLLs.
that might be more work than tacos (just cook a ton of meat and shread some Lettuce, tomato and cheese) but i figured it wouLd be a huge hit with aLL the kids.
besides cheese, do you have suggestions for spicing up the burger idea? or is it a bad idea overaLL, and i shouLd just make tacos.

1. I've done mini-burgers on pumpernickel rolls, with |
|
a double-cream brie-like cheese and sauteed mushrooms. (That may be a little too grown-up for all the kids, though.)

11. that is a good idea, but I would do pepper jack |
|
pepper jack goes great with hamburgers I would use a milder cheese, like cheddar or American or even Swiss on some for those who can't take spicy stuff

3. Alton Brown has a recipe for "Mini man burgers" |
|
He cooks them up & serves them fresh. You could mix up the meat & bring the fixings with you; these are quite simple. Just grill the burgers quickly & assemble before serving.
They do sound tasty & quite different from the usual holiday fare.

If I were doing it, I'd a bunch with guacamole (Trader Joe's sells some good ready-made guac), some with blue cheese, some with a soft spreadable chhese like Alouette, some with cheddar.
But that's just me. ;)

Try adding some or all of the following: egg, sesame oil, wet or dry mustard, a little sugar, a little cayenne pepper, and one or more of the following spice mixtures: Paul Prudhomme's Meat Magic, Amazing Taste, Mrs. Dash's, or Montreal Steak seasoning.

16. Sure -- Flavored Burgers are Like Meat Loaf |
|
But people might like them better if they were prepared like hamburgers.
I also agree with the Worcester sauce. Although you don't have to use all of those or use them in great amounts.

In & Out Burger. Mayonnaise, thousand island dressing and a little horseradish.

13. I'd go with potato rolls for the dinner rolls |
|
a little extra taste and pretty absorbent to keep it a little neater.
Definitely pickle slices.

17. Instead of rolls use focaccia |
|
And mix the beef with Lipton's dry onion soup.
