Poll question: Let's end the debate once and for all. Bush is an idiot, yes or no.
I've seen viewpoints from "he is an idiot" to "he is a shrewd political animal who should never be "misunderestimated."

:-)

So let's keep the poll real simple...I could have gone for 10 categories with descriptions, but let's just GET DOWN TO IT.

IDIOT.

YES or NO.

:toast:

1. He is intellectually lazy IMO
NOT an idiot, and we suffer the consequences when we take him for one.

13. That's my impression...
...I was thinking about this today, and "lazy" was the first word to come to mind.

And I also think that in many ways he IS an idiot, but I also believe it's carefully planned that way to give him a false "aw shucks, Gomer Pyle" sort of Connecticut Cowboy down-home "regular guy" aura which he absolutely does not have on his own.

All of those "who would you rather have a beer with" polls during the campaign? Anyone think that Rove wasn't phoning them in?

20. Agreed. He's not an idiot...
...he's ignorant -- there's a difference. He's intellectually lazy, unengaged, smug, badly informed and poorly advised, but also clever and sneaky. He uses whatever native intelligence he possesses to totally self-serving ends and knows exactly what he's doing to the rest of us.

It just so happens he cannot express himself in whole sentences. Some have suggested presenile dementia, while others suggest damage due to long-term effects of alcohol and drug abuse. Anyway you slice it...the man's incoherent most of the time he's off the prompter.

It's pathetic that we have to put up with him for another four years.

4. depends on the context
when it comes to running a campaign and politicking, he's not an idiot. but every other situation he is. the idiotness far outweighs the "shrewd campaigner" in him, so i voted yes.

5. I don't think he meets minimum qualifications for a president...
Edited on Mon Dec-20-04 12:37 PM by LoZoccolo
...but compared to the average person in America I think he's actually above average. He can't handle the job, but I don't think he's stupid. I think he appears more that way when he tries to improvise looking decisive and informed, though.

6. Tough call.
I don't think he's as stupid as he acts. It's more like he's delusional, paranoid, and vicious. He seems to have a sinister mind coupled with an ability to actively shape the way he sees the world and ignore those facts that interfere with his vision.

8. Intellectually Vacuous and Agressively Lazy
He's not bright, he doesn't care, he thinks he has it all figured out anyway.

A pox on anyone who buys the nonsense that this guy is NOT dumber than a box of rocks. He's an IDIOT!

You're being fooled if you don't believe that.

11. Idiot, no question. He's also a bully, and has strong instincts
when it comes to bashing other people and fooling the weak-minded. A lion isn't smart just because it can kill a zebra; Bush isn't smart just because he can slander his opponents.

People underestimate how evil he is, and how far he will go. But no one underestimates his intelligence. That's not possible.

He's not stupid, but not exactly intelligent, either. I'd say he's shrewd.
