I took a tour of it this past summer. It is the Scottish Rites Temple. It was pretty wild. They have J Edgar Hoovers office in the basement, his actual office from the FBI, torn down and then reconstructed in their basement. The guy giving the tour said the building was the Masonry equivalent of the U.N. The building is on the same meridian as the Whitehouse. It is a remarkable building there is more on it here:http://www.cr.nps.gov/nr/travel/wash/dc54.htm Washington D.C. has got tons of Freemasonry stuff built into the layout of the city.

There's a guy, I think his last name is Manly, who is a 32 degree freemason who published several books on the subject pretty much revealing everything.

The Masons used to have a lot of power with many famous people being Masons. But for most nowadays it is just a social club.
