Talk about bad parenting! |
John Michael Dunton's infant daughter died in September when Dunton accidentally left her in his minivan, having forgotten to drop her off at the baby sitter's before work. However, upon learning that no criminal charges would be filed against him, Dunton appeared at a press conference, boasting that a jury would have acquitted him, anyway, and then imploring automakers to invent something to keep parents from forgetting about their kids.

2. I guess grocery stores and mass food producers should |
invent something to remind people to feed their children also. I heard about this when it happened quite a while ago.... makes me sick.

If you need something to remind you that you have a kid, then maybe you shouldn't have one

9. Sounds like Dad is getting ready to sue the auto maker! |
I had a case where a father broke all kinds of child labor and child endangerment laws by making his ten year old son work on demolition jobs with dad summers and weekends. Quote: "Oh yeah, Jimmy junior would much rather be working with his old dad than playing in Little League games!" One day, Jimmy junior was told to duck under the crane extension- one end of which was laying in a flatbed truck while sections of it were being disassembled. The driver of the flatbed truck misunderstood a shouted direction from killer Dad, and pulled the truck forward too soon, allowing a section of the crane to fall on, crush and kill Jimmy junior. At the son's funeral, Daddy dearest was bragging about how much money he was going to make suing the manufacturer of the crane. The local cops and DA felt sorry for the family and didn't press criminal charges, and Daddy sued. I represented the manufacturer of the crane. In my investigation, I found that an older son had died falling out of a car driven by Daddy. Daddy did collect money in a settlement - against my advice. The manufacturer was afraid that the local jury would give a big verdict to Daddy, despite his actions. And since the DA (afraid of voter backlash, no doubt) didn't have the cojones to prosecute, we couldn't get into that area in a civil action. I think Dads like that should be sterilized.
