Ack my brother is too damn hard to shop for! |
|
What am I to do.. well my mother and I. Lordy.
We're buying him, The Battle Book: Crucial Conflicts in History from 1469 Bc to the Present, which I've heard is really good and its kinda hard to get a hold of.
But he needs more then one present, but I don't know what to get him. He obviously likes battle history, considering the book we got him, he mostly only likes WW2 battle history but I'm thinking he'll enjoy that book.
God damn him, why can't he be easy to shop for, or why can't he sometimes refrain from buying things so that other people can buy them for him!
If anyone might have any ideas.. I would be grateful.
He likes and is very knowledgeable about computers and electronics. He likes WW2 war history, like I said, and he likes video games, he has a PS2. So yeah, any brilliant people out there, since I'm not. LOL.

1. It's not very original, but why not a gift card to a favorite store? |
|
My niece always asks for Gap or Victoria's Secret gift cards, so I don't worry about always getting her the same thing. I know what you mean - I think men in general are well nigh impossible to buy for!

|
know of something he wants, but no. Although this is the man who for a solid month before his b-day he girlfriend of over and year kept asking him, "so.. what do you want for your birthday? so what do you want for your birthday?"
lol, I think its hopeless.

2. There's always the gag gift. |
|
Better for birthdays than X-mas, perhaps. But they almost always work. For your brother, I'm thinking a blow-up sheep doll and a vat of crisco...

3. You didn't say how old |
|
but what about some kind of "Snack" bin or box or basket with various snacks and beverages (and moist hand wipes) and perhaps a gift cert. for the local game seller/rental place. Bean bag chair? Some other special office chair?
Another option is to ask for a list of ten or twenty "wishes" with the understanding the list is big to provide a bit of surprize - only getting one or two of the items.

when someone's hard to shop for, they get a card that reads:
"You're too damn hard to shop for! Merry Christmas!"

8. Sad thing is, I'm not kidding. |

We're brutally honest at times. We actually did that to a really curmudgeonly grandfather who had more money than God, didn't want or need a thing, but still expected presents. We would tear our hair out every year until we did that card, everyone signed it and he LAUGHED HIS ASS OFF, said it was the best gift he ever got!

10. You could try getting him |
|
some WWII dvd's. I had a guy friend ask me for these last year. Best Buy has quite a selection. Even though I hate Best Buy and it pains me to tell anyone to go there.
My friend sounds a lot like your brother... computers, video games, war history. He loved the dvd's. Or you could get him the latest need for speed game for the PS2..that's been popular.

it's probably too late, but the History Channel certianly has good WWII DVDs that you could order or even find at a video store. Try the Band of Brothers DVD set too, he'd love that!
