I just don't "get" Chris Elliot's humor. Or maybe he's not funny? |
|
Apparently people *do* think he's funny. I ask you, who are these people? Chris Elliot: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0254402/

3. I thought he was HILARIOUS on the old NBC Letterman show..... |
|
As the guy under the seats, Morton Downey Jr, Jay Leno, etc.
I never saw "Cabin Boy," but I heard it sucked.
And "Get a Life" was uneven at best; felt like a compromise between Chris's edginess and the network's corniness.
I think everybody was just funnier in the 80's, somehow. Before Letterman moved to CBS, his show was the best thing on TV. Now he's a boring institution, a dinosaur.

7. Oh man, those were funny |
|
Remember "Panicky Guy" "Regulator Guy" and "Fugitive Guy" I had almost forgotten all about those. He had me rollin, he is probably one of the reasons why I first started watching Letterman.

or something, because I was like
Usually I'm not humor-impaired, but perhaps I have a blind-spot. Could be.

9. I'm one of the 50 or so people that bought his book in the early 90s |
|
"Daddy Dearest".... A parody about growing up with his comedian father (Bob Elliot of "Bob and Ray" fame).
In it he just made up wild shit and allowed his father to write a rebuttal after every chapter. That was the funniest part...perhaps as intended.

and that show of his that used to come on I would skip it and go straight to Herman's Head. Now that's quality.

11. He is the son of Bob or Ray of "Bob & Ray" |
|
They werea radio humor team and Mad magazine did stuff with them. They were so dry and sarcastic in thier day not many people got them. Chris has the same kind of humor and it falls flat sometimes,he is more of a writer maybe because one film he made really sucks.
