Family Dysfunction : Favouritism

What are your views on family members who choose to play favourites? On my father's side of the family, it's a very common trait to play favourites and treat some members of the family better than others.

On my mother's side we never had this problem, thank goodness....

1. It's stupid to do that.
Speaking as someone who has parents, siblings, and children, I know that you can't help but like some family members better than others at various times. But you don't have to have obvious favorites.

2. I find it disturbing, myself...
But the big loser is the parent or grandparent who treats one child better than another. Diminished respect and love are bound to be the end result...possibly even from the child they love more.

it tears family's apart.

I could go on forever but it has wrecked both sides of my family.
