I had a profound experience listening to Shudder to Think
I was listening, just now, to my old copy of Ten Spot and I felt transported to a very special time in my life. It was in the middle of "Corner of My Eye" when I was taken to a place of towering visions of ragid alleys and train tracks clothed in a swirling cacophony of color. It was at this thought that I remembered the days of psychedelic experimentation in my youth. There is a long established observation that powerful hallucinogens can merge sensory experiences: sounds are seen, colors tasted, etc. Well a "cacophony of color" reminded me of this.

What a time that was. What an age of intrepid exploration and fearless rejection of constraints. Societal, familial, sensory, human constraints thrown to the wayside. As the song was ending I was fairly gushing.

And then it was over.

Many times a smell has acted as an olfactory key to unlock my deepest memories. However it is seldom, rare actually, that a song could work such mental lockpicking.

Sigh.

3. There's a Red House road,
and what lies behind it something like a chicken coop, not sure, though.

4. Alas my days of pushing the psychic envelop have waned.
And not a small shame too. :)

I've found that the rejection of authority and constraints does not lead to finishing an undergrad program with ambitions for an advanced degree. Furthermore the girls I'm friends around here are a tad sheepish about the "strong stuff". LOL!

I suppose I'll be relegated to keggers for the foreseeable future. :)

5. King in my dream town says, "Here Ye: pride is gone."
"A stranger's heart is raw, its vulnerable so do let your own heart thaw, or live lonely like the broken ego-bird whose lone stone heart's strings weight was more than its two sad wings."

I hear ya, MKIA. I dosed to that record once or twice myself. Then I discovered Nurse With Wound and started having much less cheesy trips.

6. Haha! Well at least I never listened to the Grateful Dead.
Nor Pink Floyd as my uncle had. I could never understand the spinning and smelling of hygene denial. :)

Cheesey my trips no doubt were. But memorable still.

Here's to you :toast:
