The Shins
Gold teeth and a curse for this town were all in my mouth.
Only I don't know how they got out, dear.
Turn me back into the pet that I was when we met.
I was happier then with no mind-set.

And if you'd 'a took to me like
A gull takes to the wind
Well, I'd 'a jumped from my tree
And I'd 'a danced like the king of the eyesores
And the rest of our lives would 'a fared well.

New slang when you notice the stripes, the dirt in your fries.
Hope it's right when you die, old and bony.
Dawn breaks like a bull through the hall,
Never should have called
But my head's to the wall and I'm lonely.

And if you'd 'a took to me like
A gull takes to the wind
Well, I'd 'a jumped from my tree
And I'd 'a danced like the kind of the eyesores
And the rest of our lives would 'a fared well.

God speed all the bakers at dawn
May they all cut their thumbs,
And bleed into their buns 'till they melt away.

I'm looking in on the good life I might be doomed never to find.
Without a trust or flaming fields am I too dumb to refine?
And if you'd 'a took to me like
Well I'd 'a danced like the queen of the eyesores
And the rest of our lives would 'a fared well.

1. Best American band of the 21st century.
So far, that is.

2. "Chutes Too Narrow" is so good.
After I fell in love with the Garden State Soundtrack I picked up the latest Shins album.

Why is it that the good stuff never gets played on the radio now?

3. It's rare that the good stuff ever gets on mainstream radio.
There have been only a few exceptions over time.

Hard for me to pick between "Chutes" and "Oh, Inverted World".

4. True, it's good, also.
There's a station on Sirius called "Left of Center" that plays all the stuff I like... Modest Mouse, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Libertines, all that stuff.

Not to sound so old and crochety about it but I don't see how the kids today listen to half of this tripe being passed off as "rock". I mean, Hoobastank? Please.

Do you like The Postal Service? I could listen to that album a billion times (may have) and it never gets old.

5. Must confess I've only heard :"Such Great Heights".
I'll dig a little deeper.

7. It's really, really, worth the price.
My favorite songs on the album are "Silhouettes" and "Clark Gable".
