8. hahahaha!
Seriously... If we ONLY shopped "blue" we'd not have much of a selection, particularly when you take into account the various definitions of "blue shopping".

24. Target isn't what I'd call a red shop.... It is mixed in its donations....
And its policies generally seem more blue than red....

Not as blue as I'd like, surely, but certainly much much better than Walmart.

I am pretty consistent otherwise.

17. What Blue stores are left? *no pun intended*
Target gave 60% to R's and 40% to Dems, that beats Walmart by a long shot.

It is also a store that gives many Grants to organizations that help many causes.

So, I shop there at times because it's the best alternative in my area.

Any other Suggestions? :hi:

20. I sincerely agree.
And as a former PT worker for Target, I'll vouch for the fact that they are great to their employees, much better than some (albeit a bit stingy with their wages, but hey).

21. Don't know where ya live...
if it's all ya got, then  everyone does what they can. In my area, there are many locally owned non-chain businesses, resale shops, secondhand stores like Goodwill, for groceries, Whole Foods, etc. I used to have a SERIOUS Target habit -- I was in there every week, even bought groceries at the SuperTarget. I have managed to wean myself off of them and I am buying much less now, because I'm making a point to buy in locally owned shops. It's more of a pain in the ass -- I love Target, everything all under one roof is great! But it made it waaaaaay too easy for me to buy too much crap --- because it was there.

26. I like your moderate attitude, but one should also balance GASOLINE
use. If one can shop local stores close by--great. On foot, even better. But, if one is avoiding a MIXED store, like Target (which does after all give 40% to Dems and does have rather blue policies), to drive miles across town, think of the boost you are giving to Bush* key benefactors--the energy industry.

28. True dat.
Nah, I live in a big urban car-riffic area. I just go by the places I need to go on the way home. It's just "places other than Target" now. :(

Now, my COMMUTE is another thing entirely, but I'll have to start working on that slowly. At one point I was in good enough shape to bike to work, but since it's 17 miles and approx an hour and a half one way on the bike, it's kind of a big committment.

I *do* carpool 1 day a week. :)

31. Hell I rarely shop at any major chain store.
But I do shop Target about 2 or 3 times per year.

We have small downtown shops, but the prices are 3x higher and the selection is not much.

I also shop at used clothing stores and Whole foods when I can.

But, when I need to buy gifts, I buy new. :hi:

most BIG BOX stores....

So, the purists can just go chill out... NOT shopping at the obvious REPUG stomping grounds (e.g., Walmart) is certainly a worthwhile start. I really resent the tendency to try to "one up each other" on how PURE BLUE we are.

He's my Senator from Minnesota, and they have a solid history of being a good organization.
