3. All the damn RW fundies coming out of the woodwork
In order to proclaim that they are persecuted, that Christianity is under attack, all because somebody wished them Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas, or some other such like tripe. Happens every year, but this year it seems even more prevalent, and thus more annoying.

4. Shopping for everyday items this time of year
Sometimes I just need to run into Target or the grocery store for everday items like laundry soap, TP, bread, eggs, etc. It's a big pain in the rear to have to fight the holiday crowds in the stores, streets and parking lots. I find there are a lot of people who have absolutely no clue how to navigate a parking lot.

10. in prior years, figuring out what to buy my husband's 3 brothers,
1 sister, 2 nephews, 2 nephew's wives,1 niece, 2 sisters in law, the little kids, and in earlier times, his mother, father, and grandmother
nearly made me crazy!!!!!!

Fifteen presents in all, nearly drove me nuts. More than one year, I would ask him.."any ideas what you want to get your siblings/nephews/niece/inlaws this year? "uh, no". "Good, I'm stopping at Target and getting each one of them a gift card" "ok"
(at least the grandparents and great grandmother were easier, pictures of our daughter were always well appreciated)

We could not get this crew to draw names, or do chinese auction, or grab bag or anything even close to reasonable.

Well. last year the sister floated out donating to charity as a family instead of exchanging gifts. For whatever reason, everybody thought this was good (I was shocked!) so we are pooling up to buy some rabbits or something for Heifer International.

Stess removed! And I had extra money to spend for other charity things that I like to do.

11. Stuff like what happened today.
My eleven year old daughter and her friend exchanged gifts. I bought her friend a pretty (but modestly priced) necklace. Her friend (whose parents are loaded) gave my daughter a board game, a watch, and a jacket. I know it's the thought that ought to count, but I felt terrible driving home that I hadn't gone more deeply into hock in an effort to even the playing field.

13. One word: 'shopping'
I detest shopping. I detest parking lots crammed with SUVs driven by the brain-dead. I detest wading through the useless crap to find something well-made (in the USA) and sized properly. I detest trying to avoid the inconsiderate zoned-out imbeciles blocking doorways, aisles, and intersections while they swap thumbs up their butts or conduct a conversation with someone on their cell phone. I detest sales clerks who're clueless and haven't the mental horsepower to make correct change. Most of all, I detest the agony of chronic sciatica that flares up after wasting so much time in stores that have no place to sit and rest.
