3. I would guess there are over 28,000 actual individual members. |

This is including members who were not tombstoned, and those who hold more than one username. I have two of them, myself.
I'm willing to bet you won't find a left-wing organizational site on the net that has more than 26,000 actual members.

It certainaly is the most user-friendly, in terms of navigation, graphics, or I guess what the techies call "interface". The variety of forums, the top ten, the articles, all of it. Comprehensive, attractive, and easy to use. Those are enough virtues to draw people in.
A big (and noisy at times) tent for us all. :-)

Hmmmmm. I wouldn't know how to describe the people here at DU. We come from all walks of life. All income level. Some love cats; some love dogs; some love snakes I think we had one guy who was a Gerbil freak. We come from all over the world. And as far a politics.....well....we have dems, greens, socialists, anarchists and have had a few republicans. We also have trolls, Freepers but they are usally found out pretty quick. We have people who's only political interst is guns and second amendment and those who love to live in the lounge.
So I don't know if we are the biggest because I don't know what people like us is. :silly:
I guess the one unifier is we hate Bush.

10. But some of us are center, revolutionary, libertarian... |
|
And like what was said, some have been Republicans who just wanted to find out what it was like on a place like this. I know we had a frequent lounge member, "Repub", who at the time was trying to quit smoking. He/she was just an open-minded Republican who wanted to hang out a little bit with us to see what it was like, and to expand his/her palette a little. We also have a few centrists who are refugees from der FreiRepublikkk, too.
