Rude dumbass morans on the road who won't stop for a kid |
|
Just got back from a trip to the pharmacy and I'm steamed. I was driving down the road in town near the high school and I saw two kids ahead who were standing at a crosswalk. Obviously, they were waiting to cross - they each had a skateboard under an arm and were patiently looking both ways waiting for traffic to stop (as is the law in CA).
As I approached I watched no less than SIX cars coming the other way go by them without stopping. I stopped when I reached the crosswalk but the kids still had to wait for two more dumbasses on their side who didn't bother.
These kids were young, maybe 12, they were in plain view with no parked cars blocking them, it was broad daylight, they were doing exactly what they're supposed to do and no one (but me) had the courtesy to stop for them. :wtf:
It really burns me up because this is not the only time I've seen kids completely ignored if they're not accompanied by an adult. People seem to think the rules don't apply or something. As a parent, it pisses me off because we spend a lot of time teaching our kids to do the right thing and then when they do, very often idiots like those I saw today, don't respect or respond to it. What does that tell a kid?
Sorry, I just really needed to rant about that. I like kids and these two were acting responsibly and getting burned for it and that just ticks me off! Injustice sucks! :grr:

1. North Dakota has the same law. |
|
It is a state law. In Bismarck, the Capital, it is enforced. In Fargo, it is not. Here even the cops will run you down in the cross walk.

3. What really annoyed me |
|
Was I parked in the same area and crossed twice. Both times, all traffic stopped as soon as I got to the crosswalk. I really think people feel they don't have to stop for kids because kids won't take action like adults might. That's so petty and wrong on so many levels.
And yeah, I wouldn't doubt they were shrub supporters. Scum!

4. The first time I was in California |

I was standing on a corner with a buddy. Two guys were drag racing and when we stepped of the curb to get a better look, they came to a screeching halt. We were stunned. I'm originally from Chicago, were hitting pedestrians in the crosswalk is a sport.

5. This happens to adults too. I was nearly killed the other day |
|
while crossing at a crosswalk, some idiot thought he was too good to stop for me. The walkway is clearly marked and it is almost never heeded. Someone is going to get killed one day.

6. A bunch of us were trying to cross the street in downtown Richmond |
|
last Friday and some putz in a van or truck was blocking the crosswalk. It was a busy main road, too. That's another thing that pisses me off: idiots who block crosswalks. Morons!
