17. Well, you know, "Cloaca" is Latin |
|
"Ornithology" is Greek...why are you making a Greco-centric thread?

Thankfully, my bird doesn't do that. And I hope she'll never start. But my ex's bird does it. Frequently. :hi:

And when someone with a pliers on their face grabs on to steady your arm, it can hurt!
(What kind of bird, BTW?)

16. Haha...I use the "pliers" line a lot, especially in my birdy rhymes. |
|
I use birdy rhymes to talk to the zoo crew. Somehow I can only remember them when I'm actually talking to the zoo crew. Maybe it's just as well.
You have feathers on your face. You have feathers every place! You have feathers here and there. You have feather underwear!
I remembered that bit...see what I mean?

20. My bird is a parrotlet. (Her pic is in my sig) |

The bird who rubs his cloaca on my ex's hand is a Senegal. "Pliers on their face"--I like that one; it's quite accurate.

I still remember that day in Bio II, when my teacher took great glee in pointing out to us where eggs come out...along with everything else. Ewg.

Didn't you ever watch chickens as a kid?
Eggs sometimes have poo on them when they come out, too.

that the Romans called their drainage system/sewer the Cloaca Maxima? Isn't that a great name for a sewer?

(the tinned variety favoured as a delicacy back home) -- and she always used to remind her tormentors where eggs come from!
I had to inspect my bird's cloaca to try to determine her sex -- she's a Speckled Sussex chicken. She's learned to associate me with food, and comes looking for me if I leave her cage open -- but she's a bit young to be thinking amorous thoughts. (Just hatched last month.) Her beak isn't so much pliers as an icepick. Now she's taken to pecking anything within reach, just to see if it might be edible. I know this is actually a good thing for a chicken who'll be expected to forage on her own, but having to praise her when she targets the freckles on my arm is a bit much!
