Christmas sucks this year.
Sorry, it just does.

Tried to go shopping today, and I kept being drawn to things I know the soon-to-be-former Mrs. Amok would have liked; the kinds of things I so enjoyed wrapping and putting in her stocking just for her. Almost broke down crying in the middle of the holiday shopping crowd. Had to go home.

Just put me in a foul, depressed mood.

So it's just me and my (already depressed) mom this year. No money for presents. No wife. Not even any fucking snow.

Bah fucking humbug.

You're luckier than me, bud!

6. At least we both have Tom Lehrer:
Christmas time is here, by golly,
Disapproval would be folly,
Deck the halls with hunks of holly,
Fill the cup and don't say "when."
Kill the turkeys, ducks and chickens,
Mix the punch, drag out the Dickens,
Even though the prospect sickens,
Brother, here we go again.

On Christmas Day you can't get sore,
Your fellow man you must adore,
There's time to rob him all the more
The other three hundred and sixty-four.

Relations, sparing no expense'll
Send some useless old utensil,
Or a matching pen and pencil.
"Just the thing I need. How nice."
It doesn't matter how sincere it
Is, nor how heartfelt the spirit,
Sentiment will not endear it,
What's important is the price.

Hark the Herald Tribune sings,
Advertising wondrous things.
God rest ye merry, merchants,
May you make the Yuletide pay.
Angels we have heard on high
Tell us to go out and buy!

So let the raucous sleigh bells jingle,
Hail our dear old friend Kris Kringle,
Driving his reindeer across the sky.
Don't stand underneath when they fly by.

Footnote:
Actually I did rather well myself, this last Christmas. The nicest present I received was a gift certificate "good at any hospital for a lobotomy". Rather thoughtful.

2. Well you both know
the cure for that.

Get out and help somebody else out, and get your mind off yourself.

Lotsa places you can volunteer.

And when you see the problems other people are facing, you won't feel sorry for yourself anymore. Guaranteed.

3. Shopping makes me depressed, too.
Maybe it's the fact that I work in retail and I hate it.

I'm also going through my first Christmas alone in about 15 years, and it sucks for me, too, albeit for different reasons. I WISH I gave a crap about what my ex-wife might like.

'Tis the season!

5. Skittles, I'm trying to feel sorry for myself here....
Stop making me feel like my problems pale in comparison with REAL pain and suffering.

Just kidding, of course. Here's a hug, if you promise not to kick my ass: .

10. I'm sorry you feel so bad this year
some years just suck more than others.

I remember feeling that exact way during a few different Xmas holiday seasons.
:(

Take care of yourself. And your already depressed mom.
