His experience got him drafted into Vietnam to wire electrical booby traps. When he came home he worked on tree trimming and line maintenence. He just retired last year and now he works on a farm. These people do very dangerous work and deserve every cent they get.

Especially the crane accidents. As a Boilermaker I've worked with cranes for over 30 years and made some pretty big lifts, some weighing hundreds of tons. Some of the accidents on the site were from mistakes that were so basic any knothead should have known better.
I suspect most of these accidents were from non-union jobs. Union guys usually know better; they're smarter, better trained and can't be rushed and intimidated. Usually. But I saw the Lampson that went over in Milwaukee and killed 3 Ironworkers, that was a Goddam crime.
