Fukking Christmas tree

Bought a Balsam Fir last week (about 5 days ago) Since we've gotten it home, it's done nothing but shed. You really don't want to even sneeze around the thing cause the needles start falling. The thing I don't get is that it is soaking up a quart and a half of water a day.

That's the last time I buy a Christmas tree from somebody who looked like they walked off the set of the Sopranos.

Who else is having this problem or has some recommendations?

3. I always check the tree out at the lot

to see if it is shedding. Seems to have worked so far. That's weird that it is still taking up a lot of water and shedding. I am sure there is a botanist or a garden person hereabouts who could tell you.

4. Buy an artificial tree

Looks good year after year. No shedding. And they're cheap.

If you need the scent, try lighting a pine candle.

6. Did you cut the bottom inch or so off and get it in water right away?

Do you have a supplement in the water? (aspirin and a little sugar do well, Or you can buy a ready made supplement).

If the vascular system of the tree has shut down though (which it doesn't sound like), you are pretty much SOL.

Use WARM water when you fill up the stand.

7. The problem is that they are harvested so long before xmas.

It never seems to matter how well you take care of them. They shed like a dog in spring.

8. Aren't Balsams supposed to be fragrant as hell?

And don't go artificial! Christmas trees are a cash crop in these parts! I recommend Scotch pine. Lots of jutting, horizontal branches for properly displaying ornaments. Last year's tree was a beautiful tree at the farm, but it was so meticulously pruned that it looked more like a cylinder of compressed gas than a Christmas tree!

9. Bought a live tree which is great, nary a needle on the floor.

Plus I will have something besides compost when the season is over.

10. I have an artificial tree

It's shedding too. Seriously. It also has a bad side which we have facing the wall. How realistic is that?
