Snow should NEVER be allowed in the South.
Edited on Wed Dec-22-04 04:07 PM by dbt
Hell, we barely know how to drive when the sun shines, but give us half an inch of snow and we lose what little grip we ever did have.

The first thing we do is go in vast, mooing herds to the grocery store and buy up all the bread and milk we can carry. Then it's off to the likker store to get a couple of thirty-packs and maybe some bourbon, in case of snake bites.

After the younguns and the wife are safely stashed at home, it's time to bust out the pickup or the four-wheeler and go cruising to see if there's anybody we can help get out of a ditch. If there ain't, we'll by-god put somebody in there, so's we can winch (pronounced weench) 'em out!

When we've done all the hell-raising we can think of, we'll grab a bowl, some vanilla extract, an egg or two and make snow ice cream!

How in the hell did we ever live long enough to reproduce????

1. OMG...I used to live in southern NC, and it was awful when they called for
snow, a dusting and school was closed and we were sent home, loved it as a kid..LOL.

I remember the year we had like six inches of snow right before Christmas...everyone was crippled with snow fright.. If it weren't for you guys with 4x4's there would have been a mess.

Now, I live in Northern Kentucky and we may not have the worst snow storms around, but they make those in NC look like a cakewalk..:-)

9. Oh, yeah? Well, Minnesota, they NEVER closed school!
We had to walk through six-foot snowdrifts uphill both ways and dig tunnels with our hands. Sometimes we had to tie rope around our waists and feel our way from tree to tree.

And that was AFTER the snowplow came through.

;)

6. phooy, I was hoping it would skirt us
but, if it's comin, at least I hope it's enough to go to Plan B at UK. Start the Holiday shutdown early. That would be sweet. Stay warm and safe.

10. I almost got a ticket in Alabama for passing a cop on the interstate
at least, I am pretty sure that's what he was threatening. There was a light dusting of snow and most cars were going about 25 mph, I was cruising along safely in the left lane at about 40 (mind you this was an INTERSTATE and if I had been in Michigan I'd have been run off the road for going 40). One of the cars I passed was a state trooper. He promptly pulled me over and asked me if I knew how fast I was going - I wanted to say "No, but I know how SLOW I was going". But given the carload of hippies and likely some illegal substances in my car, I was very polite and played his little game - he gave me a lecture about 'prudent speed', and the crazy Northerners tearing around in the snow with a death wish, and how he could give me a SPEEDING ticket! I somehow schmoozed my way out of it and didn't get a ticket (I doubt he could have actually given me one, really, I wasn't driving recklessly or anything), but I'll never forget that day. Prudent speed, my ass.

what they are doing with a vehicle in the snow! Did he have his tar chains on?

15. 8 inches of snow and wind chills down to -10 F?
The only way that will threaten your life is if Canada decides to invade your country for the warmth. Put a fucking sweater on, people.

I know it cuts both ways. I am perfectly aware that if I ever visited Texas in the summer, I would either drown in my own sweat or spontaneously burst into flame.

But that doesn't change the fact that you're all a bunch of cold-weather wussies.
