7. Thinning the brush would be helpful, but..

Bush's plan calls for allowing logging companies to thin out the good trees. You can't make any money off of brush, and I doubt timber companies will go out of their way to clear brush since that would be time consuming and not cost effective.

Forest fires are a natural occurrence (mostly). Sure, it's a pain in the ass when your house get burned to the ground, but that's the chance you take when you build a house in the woods, isn't it? If I were afraid of hurricaines, I'd not choose to live on the coast. If I were afraid earthquakes, I'd not move to California. If I were afraid of tornados, I'd not live in a trailer park..... OK, I'm getting off topic....

The truth is simply that there's money in cutting down our source of breatheable air, and these fuckheads are more than willing to lie their asses off in order to cash in.
