4. if you say something like.."Bush will be be a fine prison bitch"
that doesn't bother me at all, in fact in that context it makes me smile.

5. Never happened...wouldn't like it. Don't mind "bitch" as a word though.
Edited on Wed Dec-22-04 09:45 PM by tjdee
There are some DU women who dislike the word bitch as in "bitch slap" and "Powell is Bush's bitch" and the word 'balls' when used like "He had the balls to xyz"...

I'm not one of those.

But if someone called me a bitch....

12. Yes, open the Pandora's box
Personally, I don't like the word, but I've been told to take this as a compliment if I am called a bitch. Just wondering if I am the only woman who does not like to be referred as a bitch.

11. It's an insult used to try to make me subservient to men
Too many women are called "bitch" whenever they disagree with a man or speak out. Too women are called a 'bitch' as they are being beaten. I know that many younger women accept the term as a way of empowerment, but I believe there is too much history of abuse and assault with the term for it to be ever acceptable.

15. It doesn't matter
who said it or context, but I feel that the word bitch is abusive and should not be used. There is no justification using the word bitch.

16. I use it as a term of endearment...
for my best friends only, oh, and my dad and his partner. But use it as an insult toward me... You BETTER be damn sure you WANT to fight.

18. I hate the use of 'son of a bitch' because it insults the MOTHER
not the ears upon which the insult is thrown

...a dog, not that his/her mother was a dog.

20. I love being called "bitch"
It means that I am stating my opinion and pissing off someone, instead of sitting quietly and appeasing others.

To be called Bitch is a badge of honor, to me, anyway.

Really, I use the 'worst' word all the time. If you are only brangin 'bitch' to the table, you are pretty lame. I really don't care.

22. Usually
my response is the evil eye and, "what's your point"?? Doesn't typically bother me since it usually means I'm standing up for myself or someone else. But calling someone a bitch shows a lack of creativity, doncha think? :P

23. Dunno--how do men feel when called "dick" or "dickhead"?
I mean, it's a gender-specific curse word based on certain dubious behavior. And it can be meant in a gentle, humourous way, or a bad way. But it really is just a word. I guess it depends on context.

24. Context is the name of the game here.
My friend can say, "your such a bitch" if it's funny and suits the situation, fine.

I had a guy who worked for me go off once and call me a bitch. He was fired... It's all in the context.
