and since I am an embarrassingly obsessed U2 fan, I will tell you.

Edge didn't pick the name for himself. The bandmates and their group of friends from back in high school picked the name for him based on his facial features and his outlook on life.

Bono also did not pick the name for himself and was initially embarrassed about the name bestowed on him because he thought he had a shite voice. (Which yeah, he did kind of sound like a banshee back in the day.)

My favorite story is how when Paulie was a wee one his da found him outside with a bee, and young Bono said "It's alright, Da, me and him have made friends!"
