Let's get a life update from you folks - it's year's end
Things are good for me...mostly amazed at how a year ago I used this cmall city as my base to find work and wished I could be here...now I live here. I've spent the last year in three different homes.
This latest one is great... love the job, money is getting on track. There's tons of beautiful girls around and I have friends again.

I'm heading to Vancouver on Friday for xmas.

How's your year been?

1. Sucked.
But, for the first time in a long time, I feel like in 2005 anything can happen. And that's good enough for now.

24. Wow, I need to spend more time in the Lounge.

What kind of shot are you referring to? Are you saying you have a shot with to girls at the same time? If so, I'd say go for it man, do whatever it takes.

If you're talking about having individual shots at two different ladies, I would suggest picking one over the other and concentrating a little more on what you can do to improve your chances. You have to decide what you want and get out there and make it happen.

That's what I have learned over the last year. I'm about to get married and start a family with a girl I absolutely adore. It took me five years to make that decision. Now that I'm sure of what I want, I know where to look when I get up in the morning.

45. Yeah, I dunno. Maybe I guess.
One of the girls would have to be my fiance, otherwise I'd be a slimy cheating bastard.

Most likely, it would have to be her idea. Considering she's knocked up and all, I'm assuming she won't be bringing any hotties home from the bar for a while.

So yeah, if I had the chance, hell yes! Fat chance though.

Ask me another.

7. Well,
it's been a good year, mostly, and not in this order:

* Got a promotion

* Got a nervous breakdown

* Went to Wal-mart, cranked up "Fear of a Black Planet" and had two repuke *-lovin' millenia-old fossils stare at me in horror as Chuck D sang the lyrics "All I want is peace and love on this planet, ain't that how God planned it?" at just the right time! :D :D :D :D :D :D

* Got a protruded disc and numbness

* Got to have sex TWICE. :wow: I literally broke a record!! :wow:

* Heard my job will ultimately be phased out so I'm scrambling for ideas for something I'd want to do. Apart from live in poverty or working umpteen retail jobs, that is.

* Had ID theft but caught it early on.

* Made my own 2005 calendar out of a lack of anything even remotely interesting out there.

* Pondered why no skit tv shows are doing parodies of Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, Ashlee Simpson, Paris Hilton, et al. I wish "In Living Color" was back. :-(

12. Survived
Bounced from crappy job to crappy job until I finally got another computer programming job in October. Now I start the slow process of getting back on my feet and rebuilding my credit. Didn't lose the house at least. The money from my entertainment side business (magic and balloon twisting) doubled from the previous year - not bad for it just being my second year. Those jobs kept me sane and gave me some extra money to survive on, and I'll be able to afford some materials and props for some new routines this year. Hopefully by the new year, my shoulder will be healed (no idea what I did to it), and I'll be able to get back into the gym and get back into shape.

All in all, okay I guess. Could have been lots better.

14. My life's going pretty well right now.
As far as location goes, I'm in a good roommate situation in a nice, quiet rural town that's only 20 minutes from my job.

My roommate has two cats and the friendliest, most affectionate dog I've ever met.

I finally have a job that I both like and that pays a living wage.

Thanks to my job, I can finally afford to get a bunch of long-overdue work done to my car.

My collection of music--now on vinyl, CDs, and MP3s--continues to grow and diversify.

In early 2004, my college radio show was expanded from two hours a week to three. Plus, in October I started producing a bi-weekly half-hour political talk show for the station.

And except for being overweight, I'm in very good health.

The only downside to 2004 was that I thought I had finally hooked up with The One, but that turned out not to be the case. :(

Oh, yeah! The other downside is that we're stuck with four more goddamned years of the Bush Crime Syndicate. :puke:

All things being equal, I wouldn't trade my life right now for my life of a year ago. Thanks for asking, HEyHEy! :hi:

23. Worst.Year.EVER.
My grandma passed-away, my cousin died suddenly from a rare form of meningitis, I got divorved from a lying, cheater (that sucks), my mom had to have a brain tumor removed, then she found she had thyroid cancer and had the entire thyroid removed. You know who is in the white house still. GAWD! I know 2005 will be better, how could it not???

40. It's been a mixed bag.
Splurged on a vacation to Alaska, cashing in frequent flier miles. Best time I've had in ages.

Had surgery for skin cancer, but it's under control.

Steady writing work with good editors.

A bad year for unexpected expenses--medical bills, 2 kids needed oral surgery, had a lot of car problems and finally had to junk one of the vehicles, so we're in the hole financially.

My oldest kid is applying to college; other one is looking for a pair-skating partner, so we need to figure out how to boost our incomes somehow, as we've already cut expenses to the bone.

All in all, though, we're doing better than many of our friends. Two friends in particular have had a nightmare year; please will those of you who are true believers put in some good words for them upstairs?

My best friend's brother has had multiple surgeries, is in bad shape, and in November his wife died. She had a horrible infection and the doctors amputated all four limbs trying to save her, but couldn't. They have 3 little kids, no insurance, and he's on disability from Wal-Mart.

I got a call last night from another friend in Florida. Her house was ravaged by the hurricanes and now is full of black mold. She can't get a FEMA loan to fix the house, because she lost her job after getting in a 3-car freeway pileup and is too injured to return to work at the moment. She can't afford the medical treatment she needs and is at her wits end. She'd really like to come back to California, if she can find a room to lease, and would happily help out an elderly or disabled person by running errands, etc. in exchange for reasonable rent.

Count your blessings, all!

56. This year has been a Lifetime Drama in the making
Disability issues; finance issues; job stability issues; child custody issues; child mental health issues all year long. One step forward, one step back. Husband finally starts getting SSI; two months later, I get laid off just as we're starting to get caught up in bills.

Next year - well, my new, stable job starts Jan 3rd - I just got the call today, so my unpaid "vacation" will have only lasted 4 weeks, and we'll still have health coverage with only 3 days non-coverage. And I've discovered that everyone whom I'll be working for is progressive - not a dittobot in the group. Of course, since we'd be working at a military facility, that statement doesn't extend far from my team - but there's still enough Kerry-Edwards and anti-Shrub stickers visible in the parking lot that my DU sticker shouldn't cause too much trouble!
With luck, Workman's Comp will settle before the March court date, and there's over $15K in back payments, not counting fees and non-payment penalties due me by law no matter what happens in court.
If the insurance company decides to settle sometime in January without going to court, we can come up with the money with the custody lawyers here while California can still claim jurisdiction and stop trying to convince the grandparent who initially offered to pay for a lawyer back in September that it's very important that his granddaughter return to some sort of stable home life - or he may end up with a great-grandchild much sooner than he thinks when she starts looking for attention and affection on her own in the next few years. After March, the cost goes up X10 and will take more than my settlement, but as benign neglect and isolation is not a way to raise a tweener girl we still have to try. :(

Anyway things at least seem to have the potential for going up. Crossing my fingers that I'll be able to start taking two steps forward for every one step I'm thrown back. I'm ready to switch channels - even TBS would be better than Lifetime!

And I'm wishing the same for everyone else that may be facing their own little mini-drama.

Haele
