Hey! Where Is GOPIsEvil? I've Got Some Braggin' To Do |
|
I finally took half the vacation day i had planned to take on my b-day, yesterday afternoon.
Of course, i went to the golf course. I shot 34 on the front and 38 on the back for a one over par 72! 3 Birdies, 4 Bogeys, 11 pars. Not bad for a skinny 47 year old with MS, huh?
I know, i know. Who cares? But, GOPIsEvil will care, so i thought i'd feed my own ego by bragging to him. The Professor

I'll give up some kudos...
Whenever I shoot 72, I celebrate too. But unfortunately that's usually around the 13th tee. :D

thats good shooting for anyone! have you evered entered a score starting with 6X?
I did once on a par 69 course. My best round on a par 72 was 76. On a 70 it was 74.

I was a 1 handicap at a 7280 yard course in Kankakee, IL. Rating of 73.2 and a slope of 130.
So, when i went to a shorter course, i expected to be at or slightly under par, unless i was out of sync.
The first time i played the course where i shot this 72, was with my dad on my 36th birthday. I shot 69 from the back tees. I subsequently shot about 8 more rounds in the 60's there, once i joined that club, but after i got sick, my handicap jumped to 10. It's now back down to a 6. The Professor

...Although clearly you're not drinking nearly enough on the course.

I don't drink at all on the course, so my bad! I wait until after either to celebrate a good round, or to drown my sorrows after a poor one. But, i usually play really early in the morning and it would be unseemly to drink at 7am. (Besides, i'm probably way too serious about the game.) The Professor

In a foursome, visit the 19th hole first and buy a few rounds for your opponents.

9. The best golfer I ever knew |
|
Edited on Fri Sep-26-03 10:23 AM by Robb
...Back when I was working at the Telluride golf club, there was this "kid" (30's) who drank like a fish, but held the course record. I think he still does. It was amazing to watch, such a good golfer, he probably could've turned pro, but he had such issues. I think he's pretty high up in the company by now. Good guy.
Anyhow, he would start drinking off the tee (morning tee time, or whenever). And get better. And better. And start making these ridiculous putts after he got his drunk on, it bugged the snot out of anyone he played with.
(Edited to add): It should be noted that I can't even bowl a 72. :)
