Or just the ones I've come across? They're pretty and cute to be sure, but not exactly cuddly.

Maybe its my allergies but I never saw the big deal in Cats then again I don't see the appeal in a lot of popular things except sex.

6. They are most dastardly indeed |
|
And their appeal is that they share knowing looks of disdain with you, making you feel that you're in on some ancient feline secret. (And that tribble-like purring thing. That's good too.)
(Wow, do I need SLEEP!)

7. Cats are scheming monsters... |
|
that are attempting to take over the world through mind control.
Fortunately, they have no political affiliation, and may do a better job of it than we have. They might well be aliens and not Satan's minions, as is often believed.
Note that it tends be OPC's (other people's cats) that act most dastardly. Your own cat will most likely be cuddly and affectionate.
Unlike dogs, who simplemindedly run to either greet or bite guests, cats will glare darkly at guests from under the couch or atop the mantle until they make a judgment on whether the guest deserves a head butt or a deeply scratched arm.
It's usually the claws and fangs that win, but food often plays a part in the decision.
