If you suddenly found yourself financially able to quit your job |
|
What would you tell your boss? What would you tell your fellow co-workers? How would you go out?

2. I'd have to say respectfully and quietly. |

My job's decent, and so is my supervisor. Sorry; I wish my exit could be more exciting, but I have no beef with my company.

I have no ties here at this office but one, and would tell her the truth. Everyone else I would probably tell I was moving back to California. On the off chance that I ran into anyone after that, I'd deal w/ it then. I'd give two weeks' notice. I'd try very hard to stop anyone from giving a party.

I'd give them exactly as much notice as they gave all the friends of mine that they laid off, about 1 nanosecond. I'd wait until we were in the midst of a production crunch and I was needed. I'd 0-out the HD on my work laptop, reload the OS and set it to play "Take this job and shove it" (the Dead Kennedys version) upon startup. I'd mail it back using the cheapest, slowest service the US Postal service offers. I'd mail a post it note, in an envelope, to the owner of the company with following written on it:
See ya, and I wouldn't want to be ya!
I'd shut off my office phone service.
I'd send gift certificates to the few friends I have left employed at the company (there are two of them).

12. The letter is already written to my boss. |
|
I like to write letters to people that I never send. It's very cathartic.
I just tll him that I'm gone, and I'll think of the place occasionally but I'm done with the political bullshit that is inherent in non-profits.

16. I'm starting back to a job I quit 5 months ago |
|
My new boss was an idiot. I warned his bosses that he was a potential "nut" and alienating his staff. I quit because I suspected he was stealing. They fired him 3 weeks ago. I got offered a better job in the same company. I start Monday.

Actually I have a great boss and wonderful coworkers.
I'd give decent notice and I'd explain that it's just about my owm opportunity.
But the truth is I'd want to scream BYE BYE SUCKERS not to boss or coworkers, but to the idea of work itself.

I get to work on what I want to, and they pay well. I'm not in any hurry to leave.
I figured I'd travel a bunch when I retire, but Booosh** has put the kibosh on that -- How welcome will Americans be anywhere after Booosh** is done with us?

I quit five years ago after inheriting 1.5 million dollars. I am 50 yrs old, and have worked in the gear manufacturing industry for 25 years. I gave notice before I left. I actually spent 1 1/2 years training someone to do my job because a replacement could not be found. My boss, the owner of the company, offered me a job for life, and gave me a nice bonus when I left. Never burn a bridge! Shit happens. I now live at a lake resort in Texas with a PGA rated golf course. Life is good. I figured with that kind of money, I had no reason to continue making someone else rich. I think I was right!
