Well as much of an artist as you can be with a key on a car's door.

It had a nice picture of a Wheelchair... Mmmm wonder where the SUV driver parked.

park anyplace they want

OR

The handicapped who think handicapped parking should be for handicapped people.

11. I myself would write a note and leave it on the windshield...
Saying how they're selfish, unAmerican, unChristian (or anything that applies to any implied religion via their cute bumper stickers).

Of course, I did that once and other DUers came down on me despite the obvious abuse of the system. But it's far better than keying...

And picture taking helps. Digital cameras are a blessing today.

51. Malicious damage...
If someone parked in a handicap spot - let the police ticket them.
It's wrong to take it into your own hands and maliciously to do damage.
It makes you as bad or worse than the original wrong doer.

7. I drive an SUV
I use it. I need it for school stuff. I have put two tanks of gas into it since the end of September and the tank is 3/4 full now. It's my only car.

Should I be keyed?

An SUV ain't the problem. Footprint and consumption is.

I don't have or use a pool.
I use minimal animal products.
I don't fertilize and water a lawn.
I rarely buy new clothes.
I go food shopping once every six weeks.
Except for convenience and food stores, I haven't been to any other type of store since last Christmas.

Key me because I drive an SUV? Should I be keyed by an artist?

Look at the big picture.

The SUV comes in handy. Got it from my brother-in-law for a great price.

15. Ultimate revenge on a handicap parker
I used to work as a valet for the Detroit Symphony at Ford Auditorium. We handled parking for large donators and the handicapped areas. One saturday we had an afternoon concert that coincided with a marathon.

We were doing our thing when this red white and blue pickup truck pulled into the area. It shot past us and wedged itself into a small handicapped spot. We quickly ran over and noted no tags or stickers. We told the guy that he was in a handicap spot. His reply was less than polite. He said he was a judge for the marathon and that if we touched the car he would have our jobs.

Let us just say that the head valet was not easily intimidated. When not working at the auditorium I think he was a bouncer somewhere. We just smiled at the schmuck and watched him jog away. The head valet made a couple of passes on the far side of the car with his keys in hand(bad valet bad). Then we called the police.

The cops showed up and laughed when we reported the guys threats. They quickly called the city tow service. When it showed up they said the truck was too tightly in the space to get it out. Undaunted the cops called a private company. Private tows will do anything to get their fee.

When the private truck showed up he chuckled and got out a chain. He rapped the chain around the rear axle of the truck and connected it to the rear of his truck. He then gunned the engine and yanked the thing out sideways. As he was hooking the truck up to take away the owner finally noticed what was going on. By the time he got to the scene his truck was long gone and the cops were standing there ready with his citation.

24. More revenge.
I was coming out of the grocery store and saw a car without a handicapped sticker parked in the handicapped space. Suddenly, a cop car appeared and blocked the car. The owner came running out of the store and in his haste, he dropped his bags of groceries. The policeman said, "This parking space just cost you $500."

I could have applauded that cop because nothing pisses me as much as seeing some jackass park in the handicap parking just because he is too lazy to walk from a spot maybe a few feet farther away.

Well, not my favorite, but thanks for your support. I've GOT a handicap tag for my rear view mirror because of the MS and I HAVE NEVER USED IT! I don't see anytime in the foreseeable future that i will, even on bad days. There will almost always be someone who needs it even more.

People without an OBVIOUS and MANIFEST disability should just walk the other 100 feet or face prosecution. (Or maybe stoning.)

27. Sadly, some people here probably think it's somehow okay to vandalize SUVs
My mother has one, which she uses to carpool and to haul heavy equipment. Believe it or not, transporting a bunch of people and freight in one automobile, even one that consumes 23 mpg, tends to be more efficient than spreading them out into several different cars.

Incidentally, someone keyed the outline of a Jesus fish into my car a couple of years ago. I'm not sure why.

41. Well, that's different, in my opinion.
Those cheap stickers are decidedly more easily repaired and replaced than the paint on a car door.

I didn't mind the yellow ribbon symbol at all, when the ribbons were tied on the trees in the yards of the people who actually had loved ones stationed in Iraq. Now, those damned stickers are so ubiquitous that they've become cliche and tacky.

35. A list of things that have been done to my car
I am an atheist. I have bumperstickers. See if you can guess who is doing things to my car.

The following has been done to my car:

3 sets of bumperstickers and darwin fish(with magnetic backings) have been stolen (4+ or more stickers)
Keyed 4 times
Countless religious tracts left on my windshield
WWJD bracelet rapped around my windshield wiper
1 set of stickers and fish taken off rear of car and placed on side of car
10 bibles dumped on my trunk at one time
Followed into parking lots and evangelyzed twice
Flipped off more times than I can count

And apparently the believers are the one's who are oppressed and have the moral high ground.

I have a very vivid imagination. I can think of a world of things to do to cars with Christian stickers. I do nothing. And I am the immoral one. Go fig.

I know, it sounds pretty stupid. I was at Target in the evening (taking some visiting Russians shopping) and when I came out, there it was. Someone keyed a tic-tac-toe sign on the passenger door. And this was a new car.

It was one of those "and on top of EVERYTHING ELSE....." things. I hated humanity anyway; I didn't need to be reminded of it.

Who knows? I don't and neither do you. Is it at all possible that
the owner/driver was entitled to use a disabled stall but was not properly tagged? If so, was the keying deserved?

Regardless, it is against the law to damage the property of another in such a circumstance.

heheh... little joke there.

Keying is destruction of property. Being an asshole does not deprive one of his right not to have his property destroyed.

That said: I would've loved to have seen that Behemoth. :D

Edited on Thu Dec-23-04 01:40 PM by Misunderestimator
Though I assume he was calling you a hypocrite for saying that it's wrong to key a car but wanting to see it. Pretty lame excuse to call someone a hypocrite if you ask me. I wouldn't do something like that either, but having had a disabled parent growing up and being thoroughly and regularly disgusted at the able-bodied people who ALWAYS were parked in the disabled spaces when we needed them, forcing those who really need the spots to park far away and make the already difficult experience almost unbearable, makes me understand someone in that position being angry enough to retaliate.

And yeah.... I'd like to see it too... guess I'm a hyprocrite.

mistaken, you will not find a reference to condoning or delighting in the damaging of the property of another.

I said I'd like to see it. More, I'd like to see the look on the guy's face.

If that makes me a hypocrite in your book, what do I care?

I already know I'm a hypocrite: I hate bigots.

91. Because it's a statement that the driver could not miss.
And because I loathe behemoths. They're a blight on the environment and a danger on the roads. Not to mention many of their drivers are inconsiderate clods.

Like I said in my earlier post: If this makes me a hypocrite in your book, what do I care? I don't feel I'm a hypocrite in this regard.

I'd truly be a hypocrite if I damaged the guy's behemoth.

70. The responses to this post are why we'll never have a new revolution
You can't have a real revolution with a group of people who are so wimpy and have so much respect for the law that they won't even key the car of the enemy. This is why Bush can steal an election and start a police state. He knows we'll go home, obey the law and sulk about it.

83. you know, it may have been parked over a sidewalk or a crosswalk
Any number of bullshitty things thoughtless assholes do, that cause the handicapped to put their lives at risk to go around.

In the 'right' spot, an illegally parked vehicle can cause all sorts of havoc for disabled people. Able-bodied people don't even THINK about it. It's nothing to walk around an illegally parked vehicle if you have a couple of pins that work the way they were intended.

Getting a little hyperbolic statement-wise here over some asshole you don't even know. Relax. have more eggnog. It's the Lounge.

89. Good points... It's a bitch to pull a wheelchair next to a car in a
regular space, and usually impossible. If you find a spot with an empty space next to it, you can get out, but there will likely be a car there when you get back that will prevent you from getting back in. Many disabled people in wheelchairs drive cars, this is a huge problem for them, as well as for their caregivers who drive them if they don't drive.

94. If you don't have the guts
to say that a Republican jerk in a gass-gusling SUV that parks in spots for the disabled deserves whatever he gets, then you surely don't have the guts to do what it takes to overthrow an illegitimate fascist government. It's a matter of basic attitude and complacency. That's the difference between Americans on the left and the people in the Ukraine who are getting a new election.

97. Do you park your SUV in spaces for the disabled?
If so, then you are a jerk and should probably be a Republican. You would also deserve to have someone key your car.

You can go ahead and call myself and others nutcases while Bush takes your rights away. While you sit safe at home being nice and complacent I'll be doing something about it.

You say you are doing something about Bush taking away our rights... do you think keying someone's car equates to "doing something about it"?

I am imagining right now, George Washington, Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, et al... fighting for our freedom from England by keying the kings car.

72. mmmmmThe sidewalk?
I must say, last week, I keyed an SOB SUV who had blocked my entry into my small neighbourhood store. Just as I walked around the back of it. It had been there for hours and had a tow notice on it from the store's owners. First time I ever did it.

I don't condone what I did, but a part of me (the tiny evil part) sez s/he had it coming.
