Help! - Where can I find nice men's clothes that aren't SUPER-SIZED?!?! |
|
I'm trying to buy a gift for a friend of mine who likes "stylish clothes" (he's from Europe and finds alot of the clothes here to be too "same old/same old")...besides THAT though, he's not a huge guy (nice sized, but would take a men's small).
The problem is, most stores don't even carry men's small (I'm finding out). It's M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL it's really unbelievable! I'm told by the store clerks that Guess is one of the only brands that even MAKES clothes in a small!
I'm at my wits end here running around looking. There are a lot of men around who aren't "super-sized" - where do they buy their clothes?

1. M and L aren't "super-sized" |
|
So some men who aren't "super-sized" are buying M and L, I imagine.

3. Where do you live? Big city? Small town? |
|
Try Marshalls and TJ Maxx, I swear...not because I'm cheap, but I get some really nice funky brand clothes there in all sizes and quickly. If you're in a hurry, go there!

So there's no shortage of stores, but those 'smalls' are very elusive. I'll take a look where you suggested. Thanks for the tip.

8. They have more small men sizes too |
|
Because department stores don't sell them as easily in mens! Same for womens (I know, I'm a small petite!)

Most of the designer stuff can be found in all sizes, and the pants and dress shirts are sized by waist and chest.

Ergo, no 'small'. :eyes:
Find the nearest race track and ask the jockeys to where THEY shop.

Not only do they never have smalls but the M and Ls are cut for heavier people. My son is slightly taller than me but a lot thinner and he can't ever find anything that fits.

My husband wears a M-tall... and good luck finding those outside of L.L. Bean or Land's End! (and a few random websites I've found...)

If it's trendy, I refuse to help. I don't aid slaves to momentary fashion.

no, not trendy....(perhaps when he was younger he was, but now tis not really appropriate - although he's not 'old' now by any means).

Places like Banana Republic, J.Crew or Express Men. Mostly classic, straighforward cuts, so the clothes "stay in season" for a long time. Plenty of edgier stuff that one would NOT wear to an office. Plus, these stores are everywhere. I don't know what local specialty shops you've got.

American styles are boxier than British. Americans like huge arm holes and minimal "fiting". I don't know of any American place to get a British fit. I haven't really looked into it much though.
