Poll question: Best Movie Ebenezer Scrooge? |
|

I did not include an Other option; if you favor someone else, let me know and I'll put them on the list - until I reach ten options, of course.

as Ebby Scrooge just because she is the only female scrooge I have seen.
I already voted for George C. Scott though.

8. I would include him, but his character wasn't even named Scrooge. |
|
Based on Scrooge, certainly - but not Scrooge.
Don't you love technicalities? :D

6. WHERE MR. MCGOO'S "A CHRISTMAS CAROL" |
|
Edited on Thu Dec-23-04 08:36 PM by happyslug
At least it followed the book, it had a young boy (AS IN THE BOOK) as the ghost of Christmas past, not a woman like the rest of the movies (OK being a Cartoon all they had to do was DRAW a young boy, not try to get a young boy with 20 years acting experience, which is why women have ALWAYS played the role of Christmas Past).
Of the Movie versions I perfer George C Scott's but I like McGoo's the best.

14. I prefer Mr. Magoo, too |
|
In fact, all the Mr. Magoo versions of classic literature were good.
Actually, the Ghost of Christmas Past is described as being of indeterminate age and sex from what I remember.
If we're going with live actors, I think Alistair Sim is probably the best.

In the Alistair Sim version, the Ghost of Christmas Past was played by a man in a long White Wig...definitely not a woman.

I just checked. It was called "An American Christmas Carol". It was like the original but based in America during the great depression. I knew it was something like that.

That version is wonderful.
Although I watch the Alastair Sim's version when it's on.

17. Okay, okay. Just this once, I'll give in to popular demand. |
|
Well, not actually just this once. I've done it many times before - I'm a real flip-flopper.

18. Alistair Sim's performance is the Gold Standard. |
|
And I'm not just saying that 'cause it was filmed in the year I was born, so I grew up watching it. :)
But the Reginald Owen version had the better Marley -- Leo G. Carroll
