Vikings don't stand a chance. They're a loser team from what is only the third best state in the nation.

So there. Nyah.

And so's your momma.

Double nyah.

Nyah nyah nyah.

10. Nope, that's still pretty darn good!
It's beat only by HI and WI, and that's some pretty stiff competition.

I like MN.

I just like the Packers better. :-)

And more symphony orchestras.

And more art museums.

And our largest city doesn't smell like burnt hops.

22. and - let me say - your largest city isn't a useless shithole, either
Milwaukee - the city we should give to Michigan, since Michigan seems to like to collect industrial shitholes filled with ignorant smelly morans. Milwaukee is, to me, utterly unlike the rest of Wisconsin, and totally like Michigan - or, much as I hate to be THIS insulting to Milwaukee, like Chicago/Illinois.

And yes, more Starbucks and more symphonies in MN - I don't know if that's true, and you didn't footnote your statement, but your main symphony orhcestra is a damned good one. Milwaukee's is, too, but not as good as yours. And you have Prairie Home Companion.

Which is why I like MN so much. It's a good state, and it's managed well. And so is WI. I sometimes think that WI and MN should form their own country (but leave Milwaukee/Racine/Kenosha out of it - give 'em to ILL or to MI, where they belong).

Madison is a better city than any in Minnesota, IMO. If I would ever live in Wisconsin, I'd live there. It's a beautiful, liberal urban utopia.

(*Potential offensive remarks coming*) Green Bay is a back-woods shit-hole that only has an NFL team, and nothing more. And I've been there many times. I live in Fargo (roughly the size of GB), and I honestly believe Fargo is about 10 times more exciting of a city then Green Bay. I stopped there once, I noticed they had a huge football stadium, and it looked like there was absolutely nothing else of worth to see in that city. It was just Lambeau Field and lower-class blah. Take away the Packers, and Green Bay wouldn't even be a city like Youngstown, OH.

All the other cities are no different than Minnesotan cities.

hmmm German means booze :D. There's a rep in the northern part of Minnesota that is a Slovenian American, only one in the current congress I believe, way cool. I would love to visit either states though I would freeze my southern ass off.

25. Yeah, Madison is cool!
I've long thought of it as the Manhattan of the Midwest. And I say that as one who lived in Manhattan for 12 wonderful years. it is better than the Twin Cities in many ways. And there is no state capital that is more beautiful than Wisconsin's.

And as you say, for the most part, MN and WI cities are indistinguishable - both filled with very similar people, generous but xenophobic, liberal but traditional, in favor of having a good time but feeling a deep set need to wear polyester and feed hats while having their good time.

29. Exactly. Eau Claire reminds me a lot of St. Cloud.
Most of the towns are the same.

I've said it before, but I say it now: I really wish Wisconsin could've picked a better city for its NFL team. I don't think I would personally hate the Packers so much if they were located in Madison or Milwaukee. The fact that they come from a real small dung-heap of a town serves as kind of a blow to the ego of many cultured, urbanite Vikings fans from Minneapolis whenever the Packers beat the Vikes. And whenever the Pack wins, you get a lot of people from Green Bay thinking they're somehow "better" than Minneapolis, which is absolutely ludicrous (trust me, I've known a LOT of Packer fans in my day who actually said things like that).

I think the rivalry would be a lot more friendly if they were the 'Milwaukee Packers". At least Milwaukee is a city more comparable to Minneapolis. It's a blow on the ego of people from the Twin Cities. If we were beaten by the Packers, I'd feel a lot less contempt if I knew we were just beaten by Milwaukee rather than just being beaten by Green Bay.

The word "pop" sounds more sugary-sweet than "soda". I once had a "club soda" (carbonated water) and it tasted like shit. You can always trust pop to be Coke or Mello Yello or Sprite or Mountain Dew, or whatever. Sugary-sweet. You put alcohol in soda.:D

during the pro choice rally in DC because of Lizz612's Minnesotan's background and thus being a pop person and YoungRed being from near Rochester, NY and being pop. So I was surrounded heh. Its soda damnit. You don't drink your father damnit lol, oh and I can go back and forth just to make someone happy on the arguement, so be careful lol.

I think we have a very good chance of winning tommorrow, because it's a home game, and because of the intagibles. But it's never a sure thing against the Puke, even at home. And I've got the jitters over this game.

35. Got owned again, eh?
We're the Minnesota Vikings, and we're just a pile of junk
We play in a dome they call the Humpty Dump
Win a few games, make the Playoffs, and we choke
The Minnesota Vikings, and you know that we're a joke

We joined the NFL back in 1960
We're gonna be a great team some day, you'll see
Just like the Packers, gonna win a Super Bowl
To be number one is our only goal

Now we've been there four times, but we never seem to win
And it's not good enough just to get in
We gotta win the big one, and we gotta do it now
We're never gonna do it 'cause we don't know how

We lost to Kansas City, Oakland, Pittsburgh, Miami, too
And if we played the Jets, you know we'd still lose
We been to four Super Bowls, and we lost four times
Being a bunch of chokers is our only crime

We're the Minnesota Vikings, and we're just a pile of junk
We play in a dome they call the Humpty Dump
Win a few games, make the Playoffs, and we choke
The Minnesota Vikings, and you know that we're a joke

Now the Super Bowl isn't the only time we choke
That's why everybody says we're a joke
In October 96 was our darkest day
We were in first place and we lost to Tampa Bay

And the Cowboys crushed us in the Playoffs that year
"You stink like Buffalo" is all that we hear
We've been to four Super Bowls, and we've lost four times
Some day we're going back there to lose number five

We're the Minnesota Vikings, and we're just a pile of junk
We play in a dome they call the Humpty Dump
Win a few games, make the Playoffs, and we choke
The Minnesota Vikings, and you know that we're a joke
The Minnesota Vikings, and you know we're gonna choke
The Minnesota Vikings, and you know...that...we're...a...joke

Yah we ain't never gonna be no good

Aw dat dome's fallin' apart again!

But didnt't eh Vikings win a Super Bowl once in the 70s? I seem to remember them winning when I was a kid, since I spent a year liking the Vikings (and for a number of years, my favorite team was always the one that won the superbowl, until goddamned pittsburgh or philly or whatever bradshaw played with won against some team that I really liked - I've hated both PA teams since then)

My brother Glenn, who passed away a month ago, was such a Vikings fanatic. At his funeral the priest said "Glenn was a major fan of the Minnesota Vikings, which we all know takes faith and courage."

Among his possessions is a beautiful, fairly new Vikings jacket. I will be sending it to his cousin Scott in Peterson, Minnesota.
